Unhappy Walmart across from Colony closing this summer?

Someone told us that the Walmart on Heald Way on 466A is closing this summer. It was confirmed by a Walmart employee. Anyone else know anything? Are they opening a Walmart Superstore nearby?

It's only been opened like around 3 years. Strange.

From a 2/26/22 article in the online paper
... “special project rebrand ” ... Work is expected to begin in June and be completed by August.

Kinda doubt they could fit a "super" Walmart on that property + all the parking it would need. This tiny place often has a full lot.

If it's closing for remodeling, that means it will open again. I sure hope so. I do a great deal of my grocery shopping there.

We’ve been using this Walmart for 5 years. It’s not the closest store to home but they really have their act together. I’m sure whatever they are doing with be worthwhile.

I never shop there. Very limited and way too busy.

It's going to be remodeled! It was extremely busy during the "high season" here---try to find a parking spot was impossible. We go there because it's close by but it's not attractive when it's slammed like that. Wouldn't it be great if they build another one south of 44???

I don't think there's any room to expand it. Maybe redesign the interior. Like others have said, sometimes it's difficult to find a parking spot.
