Default New telemarketing phone scam. Report them.

Here's the latest deal. I have had three calls so far this week.

They call and say they are following up on a request I filled out "on line" for information about something. Twice it was for "internet" college classes and once it was for a hip replacement.

In none of the three cases did I ask for information. It is a new way for them to get around the "do not call" laws. If they can trick you into thinking that you accidentally, or somebody else, filled in your name, they can give you their pitch.

It's total BS. Tell them you are not an idiot and that what they are doing is illegal and that you are going to report them to the attorney general. Ask for their name and a contact phone number. Watch the line go dead when you say that.

I have have had 3 calls since Monday, 2 regarding my supposed inquiries for information on home based business opportunities and 1 for internet college courses.

I just hung up.....next time I will use Jan's method ...maybe the calls will stop. Hahahaha

I prefer to hit them where they hurt, by taking up as much of their time as possible. I'll let them present their spiel, then someone will just happen to knock on the door. I ask if they will they hold on while I get the door. 3-5 min later I'm back on the phone asking them to claify something, then, my other phone is ringing and could they hold on? This time I just set the phone down and walk away. I figure they have a quota to meet and if I can turn a 10 second hangup into a 15-20 minute waste of their time, then I've accomplished something. Besides, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
