Doesn't Cane Gardens have a wood fired oven ??? I sure thought so, but I might be mistaken.

Anyone know?

There are quite a few wood burning pizza ovens around, both north and south but it isn't close to what you get in Italy. A lot of the pizzerias in Italy used to have coal burning ovens.

I'm sure you know that's not true Moe. You must mean something else? Do you mean 'good' pizza from a wood burning oven? There must be literally thousands of wood burning pizza ovens in the US. And there are actually coal fired pizza ovens as well http://slice.seriouseats.com/archive...nwide-map.html

This include both Pepe's and Sallys in New Haven CT which I have been to numerous times and both serve a great NY style pie.

I think that group may have had a parting of the ways. The pizza in the alternate Pauly's location wasn't so pretty good looking to me or my taste buds. But, no matter.
Pizza is such a personal thing.... I first thought of asking fellow TOTV Chicagoans for new recommendations, because they would know what I was looking for.
But then I remembered that so called "Chicago Style Pizza" (deep dish goofy) was invented and introduced to Chicago for the first time in the early 70's by someone smart enough to market it to the "hip" North side of town, where people bought the concept hook, line and sinker. The rest of us took a pass and stayed with our own neighborhood Mom and Pop hand thrown masterpieces..... the REAL Chicago pizza.

Anyway, I'll keep a lookout and if I find something good again, I'll run it past the forum.
Thanks...

Yep, they sure do. The pizza maker also puts on a pretty good show.

On our most recent trip "home" I had Pizza at Bravos, Giavannis, Red Sauce and Pauly's in Spanish Springs just to decide once and for all time who is the best. Hands down winner was Pauly's where you will find us every Monday night when we arrive full time in the fall. Great guys there, even Bobby who HAS to wear his NY Yankees world champion tee shirt
Just because they beat our beloved Phillies.......

We have asked some of the folks that have grown up in the area about the best place to get pizza. We were told that Goodfella's up in Bellevue, just before you get to the Big K shopping mall on the right. We have not tried them yet, but soon. We have had pizza at Mallory CC and love theirs.

Go to Mulberry Grove for good pizza. It is called Toscani's Deli and Pizzeria - excellent pizza and they deliver too. Their phone # is 352-693-2237. They just opened recently. They have subs and pasta dishes too.

We had a good wood-fired veggie pizza at Mallory CC yesterday! I suggested they have a garlic and goat cheese pizza option and they said they'd work on it.

We recently tried their pizza. It was pretty good. We bought some of their pinewheel sausage to grill also. It was tasty and unique to say the least.
