Get on top of the washer unless you know a very tall person with very long arms.

I have had to shut off the water and because I am only 5'3" I actually had to pull out the washer to reach behind and shut off water. Not much fun. Thank goodness our washer/dryers are in garage so water damage was minimal since I have everything off the floor on shelves. Good luck.

I purchased pedestals for my washer and dryer and regret it. I am able to reach the water shut off valves although the sink is in the way. With the pedestals, the w/d appear massive in the small laundry room. You will no longer easily move them from the wall to get to the dryer air duct for cleaning. You will have to have help to lift the W/D to place on top. (I used Village Helpers). If you do not need the storage, I think a smaller platform is available to raise them from the floor.
