That is very wise advice. When we are no longer first in growth, I hope we continue to be first in beauty and interesting things to do and in a population of wise and compassionate older people.

You know I'm especially proud of all the comments, there's not one negative comment & I know you're saying there shouldn't be. I saying this because there's usually somebody saying something bad about the person that had all the brains & put up their own money to make The Villages a success! Thanks to the Morse's.

Hurray for us!
Unfortunately, there will not be any new roads through TV to accommodate the increased traffic. On a recent day, the traffic on Morse was absolutely insane with all four lanes (two golf cart lanes) choked. I cannot imagine the traffic in 10 years.

Until real businesses open up on 44, all of the southern Villagers will head north causing massive bottlenecks through Morse. That's where the businesses are !

"...massive bottlenecks...". That's a good one.

Sorry, I just got back from driving around Tampa Bay on a Friday afternoon.

Agreed. There is a real need for business on 44. Our house is as far south in TV as you can get and besides groceries and some Restaurants, all the shopping is North. It will come but could be a few years.

I really agree with you! The Villages was so much nicer when it was smaller, especially when Harold Schwartz was still living, because he cared about more than making money. He wanted the residents to be happy! With the growth has come increased crime, so we no longer feel safe and it is no longer the "friendliest hometown".

I think practically everything you just said is an Urban Myth.

And Harold Schwartz being a good guy and wanting to make money too is o.k. with me which I am pretty sure he was both. That is how the world works. I am a little tired of successful business people being made into vicious ugly greedy b...........s.

Our crime rate is better than even where I came from which was remarkably low. The friendliest hometown depends on who you know and who you choose to hang out with and what time of the year it is.

Thirsty for more Koolaid.

Incoming..........

You might say The Villages is a microcosm of what is happening in our country. No place is safe, we are no longer isolated from what our ancestors left behind. Unfortunately we are also being attacked from within. The world was a whole lot different before Nixon was president, but we still are better off then our counterparts. I still feel safe sitting on my front porch. But when I go to sleep I do make sure to set the alarm.

we've gotten use to driving to Leesburg (44 makes it a piece of cake) and Ocala (the drive up 475A is spectacular) and avoid 441 if we can

I agree. When people complain about crime and traffic they need to watch the 6 pm news on 2, 6 or 9 to put things into perspective

In the movie "Elf", Buddy puts a blindfold on Jovie and takes her for a cup of coffee at a diner that has a sign that said "Worlds best cup of coffee". She takes one sip and said "Tastes like a crappy cup of coffee" Buddy said "No, it's the worlds best cup of coffee".
That's like The Villages claiming to be Florida's friendliest home town, it's all subjective.

Maybe Buddy should have taken Jovie for a cup of Kool aid instead!

Exactly. Not to mention those of us below 466A can always take it directly to 441, or even Micro Racetrack/Rolling Acres. Sometimes I even take 301 to 42 and come down that way, if I want a less stop and go route.

Have found BV to Stillwater to Morse is the quickest way. I don't mind roundabouts.
