We have arrived!
After 1320 miles and a lot of anxiety, we have arrived. We arrived on the 20th of June and I am still lost in boxes, and boxes. Have not had time to find Doggy Doo Run but hope to do that in the next week. Does anyone know a street address for it that I can put in my GPS (who I have named Therese). After being in one place for 44 years, this moving is really taxing. Hope to meet you all soon, I have done nothing but shop and unpack since I got here. When does the fun begin? I think we are going to love it when I slow down to smell the roses.

Re: We have arrived!
Welcome! I can't wait to meet you and your doggy. I haven't seen a white Alsatian in years. They are such beautiful dogs.
I couldn't find the number for Doggy Doo Run Run but Temple Shalom is just up the road from it. Its address is 13563 County Road 101. You can't miss the doggy park -- it's on the right. Don't forget to check out the doggy park in TV itself. It really is a nice one. Ain't unpacking fun?

Re: We have arrived!
MM, I hope this works, this is a copy of a post from our friend Tal, who is the expert on DDRR:
"The Doggie Doo Run Run is a centrally located about 10 acre dog park just outside of the Villages perimeter. It borders a Villages golf course on two sides. It borders Fox Run Golf Course on this golf course's SW and part of its S side. It's between the Village of Summerhill and the Village of Glenbrook. West of Glenbrook on CR101 near where CR104 junctions with CR101. Costs $3 a day per dog (check the web-site though) or $25 a month for members. Last I looked the directions on the web-site were a little wrong too as CR104 runs into CR101. CR103 runs north-south parallel to CR101. http://doggiedoorun.homestead.com/home.html" Thanks to our friend Tal for allowing me to steal his post. Hope this helps, Enjoy TV and I hope you can get finished with that unpacking soon and start enjoying yourself. Hope to see you next week, I'll be around TV scoping out fun events. Kathie

Re: We have arrived!
Thanks for the web site for Doggie Doo Run. I noticed they outlawed Pitbulls. My brother who plans to move to TV has a Stafforshire Terrier - many would call him a Pit Bull. He has had 3 of these dogs, all rescues. They are the nicest tempered dog I have ever seen. Is it typical that he may have problems with his dog in TV because of the breed? :dontknow:

Re: We have arrived!
Here's an address for Doggie Doo Run Run (DDRR) for your GPS, mmclover. Also useful for Mapquest http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Ox...eocode=ADDRESS.
12971 CR 101, Oxford, FL., 34484. For garsha-- I have seen what look to be pit bull mixes at the DDRR. A lot depends on how the dog interacts with other dogs as well as people. They seem to take a common sensical approach to management at DDRR and are not very rule oriented. Your brother garsha might be able to take his dog http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staffordshire_Bull_Terrier to the DDRR. I have seen this breed of dog at the DDRR even though I would expect them to be a little wary of it at first. Like I wrote, a lot depends on how well behaved the individual dog is. |

Re: We have arrived!
Thanks so much for the info. I did find DDR last night and took my Tye there this afternoon. Of course it was warm and no other dogs there, but I felt sorry for him being cooped up this past week. He looked the place over and went to the gate to go home. I will try again this week in the morning when it is cooler.
Where is the dog park in the villages? And when do you all meet at Crispers? and, where is Crispers? I may find my way around here in a few years. |

Re: We have arrived!
TV seems huge when you first are getting acquainted! But the longer you're there, strangely, the smaller it gets. Within a month I was whizzing around and pretty confident about my destinations. And there are always helpful residents anxious to help out if you get lost.
Crispers is on CR 101, south of Doggie Doo Run Run (in the Southern Trace Plaza at the corner of 101 and 466). The TOTV happening is the third Friday of each month at 3 PM. The first time I took my dogs to DDRR, they were mystified and stuck to me like glue. The second visit they were off and socializing with the other doggies. If you have a shy dog, it may take a few visits before your dog is comfortable. Most dogs learn to love the Dog Park. Lots of luck! You'll love living in TV.

Re: We have arrived!
The Villages new dog park is at the southern most end of Paradise Drive just bordering Paradise Lake. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=La...Paradise+Drive.
It is on the west side of Paradise Drive by the lake from where the star is on this linked map. The star is at the intersection of Paradise Drive and Wales Plaza. Paradise Lake is the one at south end of Paradise Drive. |
