Well after that quick start, this week seemed to drag by with nothing being done on the lot. But I went by this afternoon and they have turned over the grass on the whole lot. So our lot is now dirt instead of grass. It is finally getting started!

We bought a golf cart yesterday! We are moving into a villa on the 10th, so we now have somewhere that we can put a cart. We found a 2008 Yamaha gas cart, and we are thrilled. It is almost brand new, and we got a great deal on it.

We are having such a hard time with the furniture choices here. So much of the furniture stores only show traditional furniture, and we definitely like a more contemporary style. We know we need to get things ordered pretty soon, because quite a few of the stores require 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. All stores have told us they can hold the merchandise until our move in date, so ordering early is not a problem. We found a few stores in Ocala that have some more contemporary pieces, and we found one near Leesburg. We also found a La Z Boy dealer just north of TV for our living room couch and chairs. So things are finally coming together. I need to bother our sales rep again so I can get into the model and take a few measurements. I wish I had thought about that the last time we were there so I wouldn't have to bug her again. But there are a few furniture pieces that I can't buy unless I know they will fit on the walls I am thinking about, and the floor plans don't have wall dimensions. Drat!

I feel your pain. We have been looking for a month and have managed a set for the breakfast nook. Just can't find anything that wows us. Been to 10 or 12 stores Dark seems to be in. Most everything is dark. We have time but I am not sure that time makes the difference.

I would doubt very much if your sales rep would be upset with you for wanting to measure for your furniture, that is very important. I have heard horror stories from friends having to return new furniture because it wouldnt fit, and sometimes wouldnt even fit in the door! So after selling you a brand new home, I am sure she will be happy to oblige.

Gee...now I am really really and really confused, tomorrow I was going to let the auctioneer take ALL of my furniture (only 3 years old) because it is dark and I also wanted to buy a lighter contemporary style. I assumed that would be easy in Florida to find. Now I dont know what to do . Do I sell it, or bring it with me? Oh I hate making decisions lol!!

Good luck on your search, I hope you find the perfect furniture for your perfect new home!!

Default Surprised

We to were surprised by the dark colors. Thought there would have been more of the lighter colors. Had to settle for something middle of the road. Just a thought we were able to get a print of our home blown up and to scale from our Sales person so we could see how the furniture fit. Might want to give that a shot. Good luck and happy hunting. It'll be happy time soon.

Southern Lifestyles had blown up copies of every current floor plan. They also have little magnetic boxes to represent the size of the furniture. You may want to check them out.

Showcase Direct in Plaza Grande in SS has plans and are also owned by the developer. They carry less expensive brands but the service is the same as Lifestyles, which is exceptional.

Shopped in a few other stores which also had floor plans for the tV homes.

Have Fun

I don't like any of the furniture at Southern Lifestyles, so I hate to go there and ask them for a floor plan when I have no intention of buying anything there. Everything is way to traditional there. Showcase Direct had a bedroom set there that we like, and coffee table and end tables. But it looks like I will be able to get the sets cheaper at the Ashley Furniture store in Altamonte Springs. (I love the internet...makes it so much easier to compare prices and find other stores that carry the same items)

I believe Showcase Direct will match the price and you will also get your Villager 5% discount. Plus their service really is outstanding.
