Default We're Moving to TV. Need some info

My Father and I both sold our homes and we're moving to TV in Oct. We haven't purchased homes yet so we need somewhere to stay for a couple of months. I'm looking for some info from those who have already relocated. How did you find a month to month rental? I found a website for those wanting to rent out their homes mostly for vacation and during Oct., Nov., Dec., there either already booked or, very pricey. We each have an indoor cat so finding a "pet friendly" place is even harder. Did any of you find reasonably priced rentals anywhere (on the premises or off) until you were able to get into your permanent homes? And where did you store your belongings during the rental period? Any info would be appreciated.

We stored our belongings in a POD and it was kept nice and safe in Ocala until we arrived. We stayed at Waterfront Inn for a few days and then we called a management company and he set us up for a few weeks until our home was ready. Cannot remember which one, but they are well known.

Hi PamfromNY -- If you haven't checked these web sites yet try: www.thevillages4rent.com, www.****.com or the classfied ad section, furnished homes for rent of www.thevillagesdailysun.com. I would also google "property management firms in The Villages Florida". If you and your Dad are working with a TV sales rep. or an MLS agent, you might want to check with that person. Best of luck to you and your Dad in your upcoming move.

We went through the Villages Relocation office and our Villages Realtor. They got us a pet friendly home in the Villages for about $2,000 for the first month and then a reduced rate after that. First month was higher because of the one time nonrefundable pet deposit. We closed within a month and I don't remember how much subsequent months would have been. Rates will depend on the season.

Most national movers will store your household goods for the first two months for free and small charge thereafter. Make sure they include all that in the contract. Also, it's usually cheaper to store at pick up because anything stored in Florida needs to be climate controlled.

Hi,
Thanks for all the info. I did call my realtor and she gave me numbers for two property mgmt companies. I called them and they do have rentals and they are priced just like you said around $1850 plus the monthly pet fee and you can rent from month to month. The realtor also gave me the name of a storage facility (Village Self Storage) off of Rt 466 which is climate controlled.

See ya soon!!

Pam,

Glad you are having luck finding a place for October. If I see you on the golf cart paths from Oct. 8-15 I will wave. I hope you and your dad have a successful move to TV.
