Default North on 301

Does anyone know what is being developed on 301 North heading to the turnpike ramp? Lots of dirt being moved on a large scale. Just curious Thanks

Are you talking about the area east of 301 and south of the Turnpike? If so, it’s expansion of The Village of DeLuna. Marsh Bend Blvd. will extend out to 301, I think intersecting 301 just south of the big power line crossing.

(I don't know for sure this will be part of DeLuna, and not a new village.)

There is a lot of traffic north of the Turnpike ramp and this is really going to add to the mess.

I think I’ve read that there’s a plan to widen 301 from 44 south, but I agree with your concern and I hope that work will include some
sort of help for the 44/301 intersection.

I take it you don’t travel 301 south of 44 during the morning or afternoon rush?

I am amazed at what people think is bad traffic. Traffic here really is nothing even in high season. Only time I have seen issues on 301 is when there is a wreck or holiday traffic on the turnpike as people cut over to 44 to get to 75 north. Otherwise it is a breeze going on 301. I am south of 44 and travel 301 often. The extension of Marsh Bend will mainly be used by those in Marsh Bend and DeLuna. Now these residents go to Warm Springs and over to 301, so really no increase when it opens up other than the new homes. 301 from the turnpike south to Coleman is supposed to be expanded to 4 lanes at some point in the future.

I too drive north on 301 and have had to turn around and come home many times. No need to be amazed at what people think is bad traffic as we all have different thresholds. The residents of Marsh Bend and DeLuna do not go west on Warm springs to 301 north, they go east to Meggisson and then north. Once this is open and the Fenney Hammock Village, the non-village family homes and new industrial park there will be a mess, it's already getting very hard to get onto 301 from Warm Springs especially to go south. At the rate it's going the 4-lane improvement will take years and there will be a bottleneck at the Turnpike until they re-do the ramps which will be state construction and they are slow. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

I am a native Floridian, I can remember washboard roads and 301 was the interstate through downtown Wildwood. Much better today, and my car has air conditioning. The good old days are not behind me.

Yes the traffic is way worse because we have more people. It’s not LA, but it’s not the 2 lane road on 301 anymore.
If you travel south on the Turnpike, it’s a good 7/8 miles of The Villages house construction. It never stops.

Once they open up Meggison south to turnpike ramp, it should relieve a lot of the traffic on 301.
