If you don’t want them bag and trash them.
I earned every tennis, billiards, and golf trophy’s. None which were team trophy’s where you get one if you played/won or not. I’ll be keeping mine and no I don’t go around bragging about them. |

I have never been the longest hitter at golf, but one year I won the longest drive prize at our local society meeting.
It was blowing a hooley, so I was probably the only one to land on the fairway. My two son in laws have always outdriven me, and now my grandson does the same, and boy do they love to rub it in. The long drive trophy is the only trophy I retain, and whenever the boys come over, I always display it as a central table decoration! |

We had many trophies before we moved. Mostly from our children who had no desire for them. We called every organization we could think of and no one wanted them. We finally decided to take off all the nameplates and what it was for and put it a little baggie and gave that to each child. They probably didn’t even want it, but as I handed it to them I said, “here show your kids”, loll! They probably threw it in the garbage.

After getting tired of moving a few really large boxes of my hard-earned trophies (when a lot younger), I finally took the plaques off and did the same thing. The trophy shop was happy to take them, as they could then reuse the components to increase their profits. About 10 years ago I took photo's of the plaques (due to sentimental reasons) and then finally threw them away too.

I had a hard time giving my karate trophies up. They represented many years of competition, bruises and broken bones. I gave them to a local karate dojo. They were going to use them for in dojo competition at their annual Christmas party. They were so happy to receive them and I felt happy with my decision.

Up north Special Olympics were reusing old trophies at one time. You could try them. I do know there is a chapter.

The library in our hometown was delighted to get them. They used them for summer reading programs.

Why would someone want a trophy that they did not win?

At least take a picture of them as a memory before you toss them out.

Before you dispose of them remove the plates that states what they were for. Mount the plates on a new plaque . Smaller keepsake or make one for each person who won them.

Take a nice picture of the most important ones (black and white looks great), have it framed, then throw the trophies in the dumpster.
That leaves only one question — where to hang the picture...or maybe whether to hang it at all?
