I have a few months left before becoming a frog, but I know that I'll miss having at least nine different places that will deliver food to our house, and that covers Italian, Chinese and Thai meals. We live in a small upstate NY village currently, and The Villages is much much larger. But during the two months we were there at the beginning of this year, we could only locate one "Pizza" place that delivered and one service that did restaurant pickups... and the pizza place would be our last choice compared to the six places here in NY!

Were not frogs yet. What I miss most is not being there.

I miss 'face time' with my good friends. The internet and phonecalls aren't the same as actual face time. I miss the beautiful mountains. I miss the Sundance Film Festival.

(and Sky Guy, you're going to be in big touble when Russ sees that!)

I miss a true Steak and Cheese Sub. They are pretty close on bagels here, but pizza and subs are inferior.

I miss the Vermont winters...........just kidding! I do miss my job though. It was a great job with no chance of being laid off. I'd still be working if it wasn't for my Mom.

Default Let me add to that, "Do you miss things enough that you wish you didn't move here"?

People are saying what they miss and all of us do. But do the things you miss make you wish you didn't move here?

I'm not there yet, but besides my kids and grandkids, I'm going to miss days like today, 70, low humidity...working outside on my landscaping...watching the leaves turn...watching them piling up on my landscaping...watching my bank balance as we pay someone to remove the leaves....watching the snow fall....watching my bank balance as we pay someone to plow and shovel it...watching the AAA truck as it pulls us out of the ditch...freezing my a** off as I scrape the ice off of my windows....leaving the house in the dark in the morning..again freezing the same area off....coming home in the dark...freezing my....Guess what???? Besides the family, I'm not going to miss a darn thing!!!!

Smile Good restaurants and theaters

Our son hated me saying "you can't have your cake and eat it too". Even now at 39, he still doesn't like it. In fact, my wife doesn't like it either. So, I am resigned to the fact that restaurants are not as good as Northern Virginia and the lack of gourmet and international grocery stores. I started Top 10 TV Reataurants posts and good dishes but many Villagers could't come up with 10. I'll also miss great theaters and concert halls but is NVA better than NYC? My wife said she's done cooking most of the time sooo...., I am o.k. going out. When thinking about TV, there are many, many things which will counter balance those thoughts. I love TV though I'll do my best to pitch for great restaurants, etc. Please help me.
