Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise

It is what it is. I'll deal with it.

Pop (for soda).

Went down the holler.

As happy as a dog rolling in his own poop.

From my West Virginia childhood.

We'll be renting in The Villages in January-March, 2015 and are hoping to run into fellow Mountaineers. I've had season football tickets for WVU football for decades and am a 1950 WVU Journalism graduate, 43-year newspaper editor (retired since 1996), have traveled to 50 countries, 2 U.S. territories and 43 states and taken 11 cruises.

My Bucket List is getting thin. The Villages, in December 2013, was on the list, too. Not any more.

Yep, that's one that I use along with the flip side "It aint what it aint".

The other one I use a lot is "I'll just burn that bridge when I come to it."

You are correct in the meaning for "beard" nowadays.....
I was going to correct him.....but figured I probably should not.
A "beard" is a female used as a coverup for the guy.......just as you said.

P.S. Just looked it up on Wiki......it can be used "both ways"....news to me.
Beard is a slang term describing a person who is used, knowingly or unknowingly, as a date, romantic partner (boyfriend or girlfriend), or spouse either to conceal infidelity or to conceal one's sexual orientation. The American slang term originally referred to anyone who acted on behalf of another, in any transaction, to conceal a person's true identity. The term can be used in heterosexual and homosexual contexts, but with increasing acceptance of gay culture, references to beards are seen in mainstream television and movies as well as other entertainment
