My opinion after 12 years here, take it, or leave it.
AAC has nothing to do with south of CR466.

Default It Was All Fluff

It was clear to me when completing this survey they never really asked for anything of substance. other than the Developers section concerning health care which I skipped over, because I utilize the Munroe system, they only asked question about amenities. As I said when the misperception is that The Villages is a vacation destination and not a retirement community that is what you are going to get

Never did they ask the tough question the real questions, the important questions that deal with property taxes, fees, school taxes, etc . It was all fluff.

So who represents us or is the go between The Villages and the county we live in? Who speaks for us? Who challenges county budgets? In my view village residents are far removed from this aspect and hence the county commissioners school board, etc are free to do what they please

What does the developer or district government have to do with property taxes, fees, school taxes, etc . That would be a part of a county government survey.
We vote for county commissioners. If you have a problem with what they are doing, why not call them. Why would we need a "go between"? I really don't understand your rant.

Call me nave, but when someone takes the trouble to put a survey together, I respond.
To not respond will assure that nothing will change, to respond at least offers the hope of change.

county services affect us all and all things flow through the Developer and so whom do county supervisors serve?. I am holding back here but sometimes it is just best to do so because most people here could not care less
I can understand O'toole lack of understanding and response.

Bogie Shooter That is my point but to go further will lead me to places I care not to go at this time. Hindsight is 20/20 and perhaps I should not have posted my previous response

Personal Best Regards:

Arrow

I will ask for any improvement of safety possible be added to golf cart / multiple- modal paths be made. Things like yellow lines, reflectors, lights or even warning signs regarding upcoming curves or split road ahead signs. Lights are really needed near brownwood. That area is very hard to maneuver at night since we are not all familiar with this new area yet. Please add these thoughts to your survey. Thanks!

This is true. Many things listed would be nice to have such as sticker on cars for easier access thru gates or signs that are easier to see, but that don't sell homes. If you are living up north and getting ready to retire and move to Florida I'm sure the fact that you have to open your car window to open a gate is not the decieding factor to moving here or somewhere else.
Large stores such as Costco will move here when the want to based on their research. Suggestions concerning safety would have a better chance of getting listened to.

Thanks for all your input on the survey. I agree with many points made, and here is my list so far: (will be adding to it)

Please have automated gate passes for residents that can be clipped to the rear view car mirror so that gates would open automatically for residents. Non-residents can roll down their windows for gate access. I would be willing to pay a one-time fee for this.

We need sidewalks in the Lady Lake section of The Villages on some of the main streets, particularly on Panama, in Rio Grande, where people walk a lot.

Golf cart ID numbers or some way to identify them. I see so many reckless cart drivers, who need to be warned, or ticketed, before they kill someone.

To create equity, please allow two resident IDs for single homeowners.
Please install staggered street signs. They need to be offset vertically. The cross street name is not visible until you go past it, slow to a crawl, turn your head, look back and try to see it. This is dangerous!
Please install lighted or at least iridescent/reflective street signs.

Please install more and better security cameras throughout.

We need Trader Joe's in or near The Villages.

No smoking in any public locations.

Also, for the survey:
The Town Squares' concrete surfaces are not safe. Especially Spanish Springs, since the renovation, it's worse than ever, it is rough, bumpy, and uneven, it looks like an accident in the making. There are so many grooves and uneven edges, and places to trip and fall! Please, it would help a lot to put a smooth surface over the concrete.

I was at Brownwood for Scooter last night (btw, did not see one dog or unattended toddler/kid) and was surprised to see that there are huge cracks in the dance floor pavement. And that's virtually a brand-new place.

for once we agree !! The villages health care portion was more of a sales ad than anything. Or how about the vccdd system of government we must live by ?? Why will we never be allowed to elect the board that sits on the vccdd. The villages residents have no children yet they pay more than 80% of the county school taxes.

That is because we represent that much of the population. I am glad always to pay taxes for education.
