Lots of traffic, especially heavier construction and landscaping traffic, on that thin overlay leads to potholes and ripples in the asphalt.

We stood out on the sidewalk behind our home one night, along St. Charles, to watch a launch and I was amazed at the ripples in the asphalt from the vehicle headlights shining on St. Charles; repairs in the future.

Residents of any community should not have to call the county to have potholes repaired.
In our particular case, there are enough county vehicles and Village worker bees riding all over the place to see that repairs need to be done.

I see that many of these potholes are being filled in and I will add that the repairs are sub par. No . . . the repairs are terrible!

Up North where I hale from, they would patch, patch, patch and then eventually they would repave.

Sometimes it was annoying, and sometimes I didn't notice.

I was involved with my job, raising kids, enjoying and sometimes struggling through life.

I never thought to blame anyone, but now we have a lot of time.

I don't know whether I will use today's time thinking about the shape of the roads. Not a whole lot of days and weeks and months and years left....for a lot of us.

The problem the county has with repairing potholes (I didn't think they existed in The Villages..no snow, salt, freezing rain and wild fluctuation of temperatures) is they sent their repair crews to the "Ray Charles School of Asphalt Technique Repair" 1. Fill shovel with asphalt patch, 2. Toss in hole (do not have any regard for how it looks and 3. Leave quickly and go to McDonalds at The Colony. Don't worry the cars will flatten it out in 2 or 3 years....if it stays in place that long! Two quick places to look is Buena Vista before the circle at Pinellas Place (southbound) and 466A (Eastbound) at Morse Blvd. This situation exists due to a lack of accountability.
