Default FWIW - A Traffic Experience

For all you folks who think that traffic in TV is bad, I want to suggest something...

Take a little trip to Clearwater Beach and spend however long you want. But make sure you plan your trip back to TV to leave Clearwater Beach at 4:00pm on Friday (like I did earlier today). You'll have so much fun! It could be any other weekday really, but Friday is the BEST! BWAHAHAHAHAAH!!

I know it's no different than a gazillion other drives throughout the country, but it's so close by!

It will make you appreciate the traffic in TV at any location, in any season, on any day, at any hour.

Yup, I spent several winters as a courier driver in downtown Boston. Then I spent a year living in The Philippines. I don't care where you've driven in this country, believe me, it's nothing compared to The Philippines.

I literally laugh out loud when I read posts about the traffic "problems"and how difficult it is to drive in The Villages. This is one of the easiest to drive places I've ever been. The people are overall, the most courteous drivers I've ever had the pleasure of being on the road with.

That's not to say that occasionally someone does something stupid, but overall, driving here is a piece of cake.

Do this or a year and then you might realize how great it is here.

We use to live in the Tampa area, so I know what you mean, but even then I would tell people they should try getting into the Lincoln Tunnel with 8 lanes merging into 2 during rush hour...

Yip, I agree. I would set in traffic on 465 in Indianapolis and think to myself I could be going faster in my golf cart ( and still be under the golf cart speed limit). The least thing
I miss about working is the commute!

Oh boy, do I agree.

I come from Los Angeles, try driving on the 405 ANYTIME OF THE DAY OR NIGHT and its a parking lot.

I also come from Manhattan, try dodging those cab drivers and buses going up Madison Ave or going crosstown on 43rd St. (just as an example)

I think the traffic is fantastic here and in our surrounding areas. I have learned also some good short cuts in case there is traffic. Handling the roundabouts is so easy, I can't understand anyone's confusion about them. Guess its my past experience that helps me.

This is probably true of most of the issues about which many of us complain in TV.

Life here is good but, having less major things to worry about, we tend to focus on smaller issues which wouldn't even warrant our attention in the "real" world.

We came back from a visit to where we used to live in the West Palm/Ft Lauderdale area a couple weeks ago. Awful traffic, couldn't wait to get out of there! I so hope The Villages doesn't overdevelop like that.

Default TV Traffic!

What traffic jams?????

A traffic jam is being the eight car going into a roundabout or catching the same traffic light twice.

I know if its moving its not traffic.

However with all due respect it does not make anyone feel one iota better to compare what is happening in another city. We live here. We experience crowded restaurants, golf courses, multi-modal pathways and highways here. We exercise caution about my safety from accidents or crime here. The weather good or bad affects us.

Such comparison about these subjects health wealth etc are a way to rationalize our situation so that we will be spared the dissonance

No rationalization at all. I don't care about...or feel...any dissonance you may dwell on. And the post is not in any way intended to make anybody feel better, worse, or different in any way.

Have you ever considered the possibility that a post could just be intended just for some discussion and...as a potential result...have some worth based upon entertainment value alone? Every post on the ToTV doesn't need to have some deep, hidden meaning.

Lighten up.
