Just wondering how or if your relationship has changed since moving here.
I would guess it would, sharing a new experience in moving, building a new home and all the activities, new friends. Care to share your thoughts.

yes....we have learned to monitor/respect each others schedules when we try to do something, go some where, etc!!!
We both find it amusing when we talk to non TV friends and they ask about going hither or yon and we tell them we have to check our schedules and they don't get it.....right away. btk |

Of course...because retirement is in the mix so there's the adjustment of that and a new routine. I would say though we have a great marriage and relationship and love one another even more than we did as young folks! Not being "cheesy" here in saying that! Every relationship has it's rough spots and folks who deny it are living with their heads in the sand. You work through them and look back at it as learning experiences. So glad neither one of us bailed!!

I can't imagine ours getting any better but I did note something when we visited there...the couples we saw really seemed to BE couples (if that makes any sense). There was a feeling that all of the tough stuff of life, raising families, trying to make ends meet, tension, etc..was over, that now the couples seemed to really appreciate each other and and realize that they were in this together. It was a neat observation.

Not fulltimers yet as I (the man) still works and the other (the wife ) flys down there every other month for a month and leaves me here with Maggie (the dog) to fend for ourselves..Now Maggie seems to do just fine, but for me I don't cook so burger doodles are in my future, so yes our relationship has changed !

I love that so many couples walk around holding hands. Where else do you see that?

The wonderful man I convinced somehow to marry me fifty years ago, although still working, has more time for the golf he loves and more time to walk around holding hands with me. I JUST love that he is not working the very long hours that he did for years and no longer needs to be flying all over the country. I am so happy to share all this time with him finally!.

My DH and I often said how neat it was to see so many couples hand-in-hand. Then on one stroll, i slipped and he was able to keep me from falling. Then he commented that that was why so many couples were holding hands! We live in such a supportive environment it is contagious!

Life changing events like moving to an unfamiliar area or entering retirement are stressfull even when you move to a place as wonderful as TV. I believe stress simply magnifies what is already going on in a relationship. Good relationships tend to get better, not so good can crumble under the added stress. We will be celebrating our first yr of being a frog next month. We both love it here and have met some wonderful people but it hasn't been all roses and rainbows. Its hard to leave friends and family and start over in a new community. This past year has reminded me how blessed I am to have married my best friend. Not only do I love my DH but I genuinely like him too. And yes, we are one of those couples who hold hands....a simple little thing that for whatever reason, we didn't do very often before moving here.

It has changed....for the better! My heart is content knowing my husband doesn't have to work so hard and put in such long hours. No more shoveling snow or washing the salt from the roads off the car every other day. When he says he's going to do something like play pickle ball, or golf it makes me smile to know he is relaxing and doing something fun. We love doing things together and when it's not too hot to hold hands we do! Life is good and we enjoy every day. If only the days were longer!!!
