Default Where did you get your mortgage?

Hello Everyone,

My wife and I have recently put 20% down on a home in Amelia. I was wondering if anyone has advice about mortgages. I know about Citizens. Has anyone had positive experiences with other local lenders? I am interested in both customer service as well as rates and fees. Thank you in advance.

When we were purchasing our home, we met with a rep from Citizens who gave us a mortgage rate, totally non-negotiable even when I told them our credit ratings. I went to Wachovia with whom I had prior dealings and was told that the rate they were offering was comparable to Citizens, but that, after a credit rating check, we would be offered an appropriate rate. Citizens would not consider any other rate. We finally went with Wachovia who beat Citizens by 1.30%! I would definitely look around before going with Citizens.

Default You will do significantly better by using lenders other

than Citizens.
The lenders don't have to be local. Shop for the best rate you can get from any US lender from Anywhere, USA.....with the electronics and fax forms it does not matter where the money comes from.
And do not but Citizens or The Villages representatives about how much easier ti is with Citizens because they are so familiar with each other. True they are! False it is no easier than Brand X....go get the best rate.

Default SunTrust Bank

I actually got a very good rate from SunTrust Bank. You can go online and check out current interest rates.

Actually I got a very good rate from Citizens, they initially came in a little high but after a little prodding dropped it over 1 %. I find them easy to work with and very accommodating.
