Default Where is the fire?

We stepped out of our house this evening in The Village of Lake Deaton to the strong smell of smoke. Our company mentioned that they saw smoke coming from the Brownwood area earlier this afternoon. Are masses of people using wood fireplaces because of the cold weather?

A lot of folks have fire pits on their patios. This is great weather for a nice fire.

There was a large cloud this afternoon, but no idea where it was coming from.

Saw much smoke (fire?) today. I was playing golf on Truman. Looked like from vicinity of Wildwood.

It was one heckuva patio fire pit, DB. It was a huge cloud. Bare thought it was coming from the vicinity of the railroad track/466 area. It did stretch down toward Wildwood but the origin was north of Wildwood.

First noticed the smoke around 2:45 when at intersection of 466 and rolling acres. Thought it was on 466 but, as I had to travel that way I thought maybe 301 somewhere. Wherever it was it was really huge and seemed to be coming west of Wildwood and the smoke thinned out. Later at about 5:30 I noticed it again when at Brownwood and it may have rekindled. Whatever it was, it was a very very large fire and definitely west of Wildwood. Watched the news reports tonight and did not hear any mention of it.

According to the Daily Sun, it was a controlled burn at 466 and 301.

I saw that too, looked like downtown Wildwood was on fire but think is was just someone burning in town from what I could tell.

Based on the subject, I was thinking the thread was about tailgaters and speeders in The Villages.

I need to look inwards and see if I may be becoming a bit negative

Actually the Daily Sun posted "it could be seen" west of the intersection of 466 and 301 and not at the intersection. The real story should be: If it was a controlled burn....why weren't surrounding counties notified? Why did Sumter County Fire and EMS have to investigate it? Just another situation where the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing!

but they "have" to do it. Reason? Google it...give a man a fish he eats for a day...teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime....
