I don't know, ceejay. I really don't. I have my suspicions. And why allow a thread to go until the stroke of midnight that breaks the rules set forth by the Admin and announce you are allowing it to go on BUT you are stopping it at midnight. Then I saw where the movie review about a movie was pulled because...are you ready for this...it was political. Oh my. Lions and tigers and bears. Oh my. Who is behind the curtain? I feel like I'm going to wake up with Auntie Em wiping my brow. Watch out for flying monkeys.

Sorry for the rant. But that sort of felt good.

Maybe we'll wake up tomorrow and find this has all been a bad dream. What has caused all this chaos and commotion?

Not only has this nation become more divided...now TOTV has too.

(clicking my heels three times) :

There's no place like Political...There's no place like...

Oh...never mind...

Watch out....those flying monkeys are gonna be chompin' on that dead horse.

Honestly, what difference does it make to them?

Why do they even care?
it's just a guess...can't even say it is an opinion...but...as evidenced by some of the milder sniping within this thread [which the admin/mods monitored closely] some posters have made it absolutely clear how gleeful they are to see political shut down and they wish it good riddance.

my guess is that they may have previously participated in political under another guise and might have been banished by the previous admin for a certain lack of civility or whatever measure he used to evaluate behavior in the forum. at that time one was banished from all of totv and not just the political forum. thus requiring them to reinvent themselves in order to again gain access to totv.

and this could be their way to get even with those who are deemed responsible for that previous action. i can think of no other rational reason why someone who did not visit the political forum, did not participate in the forum, did not leave the forum once deciding that the posting was too rough and tumble would give a flip whether the political forum came back from its suspension.

revenge is a powerful motivator, and some folks carry those big chips around as a reminder that they have something to get even for. i would hope that this is not the case, but we have all met many and various people in all the years we have been on the earth - and we cannot say those folks don't exist.

bk - didja catch the post in the lawn ornament thread about the elephants? or didja see the sniping going on in the nfl thread. the admin/mods prob just don't have time to get around to everything -maybe they have gone to market night or to listen to one of my fave groups - the carribbean chillers.

i promise you, though, if we don't meet here or in another thread or, god willing, in the political forum - i'll get in touch when we fly south after the first of the year!

I did think the dead horse cartoon was funny though. Did you see how someone in another discussion about lawn ornaments said only elephants are allowed in TV? Hhhmmm Wonder what that meant? Personally, I thought that was pretty funny too.

Maybe we can to devise our own language like the Windtalkers to discuss politics here.

Did you happen to see that exciting new *cough* RED car on display at Lake Sumter the other morning. I heard thousands came out to see it. Somebody told me that RED *cough, cough* car would take care of you and your needs far into retirement.

The horse may be dead to you, but we that took part in the Political Forum are still waiting to find out what killed it! Autopsy please?

TV will probably allow the Red Car to be parked on the lawn next to the elephants.

Too funny, chuckinca. lol But, just to be clear. By "lawn," you really mean "lawn." Right?

I don't know what a red car means. I imagine it's the danged blonde hair again.

Many have stated that members who don't like the Poli Forum should not go there. I think the argument that hey, it is opt-in so what's the problem, belies one of the problems with the Poli forum.

Maybe the reason members who don't like what they find there venture in is because they too would be interested in participating in a TOTV Poli forum. Maybe they try participating, get insulted and ganged up upon by yes, a clique, and then give up. Maybe others who would love to offer their perspective venture in, see the lay of the land, and then don't dare ever post, or just don't want to converse with people who belittle those with whom they disagree.

This argument that if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen gives the Poli Forum almost exclusively over to the few dominators and schoolyard bullies who can gleefully continue to run off or turn off new participants. Maybe a forum in which only about a dozen of the 25,000 TOTV members post regularly is not worth the time and effort it takes to moderate.

Maybe the new owner is the sort of gentleman who just doesn't want to sponsor barroom brawls.

Some say have rules but don't moderate. That has been tried.

The wild west, no modding approach would reward bullying and in effect, provide a political forum in which a few who are hostile to opposing viewpoints thrives and everyone else either leaves in disgust, or fails to speak up because they don't want to participate in a spit fest. Maybe such a forum disenfranchises more members than it enfranchises. Maybe that's why only about a dozen TOTV members out of 25,000 regularly posts in the Poli Forum.

Maybe it looks like with 370-plus posts on this thread, there is too much interest to close political. Look again. More than half of all of the posts in this thread were posted by just 10 people.

P, are you saying that this forum has 25,000 regular posters?
