I don't think there is such a thing as a Florida "non-resident:" permit. Any resident of the US can apply for a Florida permit and if you meet the qualifications you'll get one.

If you look at the list of requirements on the FDAC page, being a Florida resident is not one of them.

When I was renting last April I made an appointment at a Florida Dept of Agriculture office in Tampa. They took me on time, took a copy of my application, Mass. LTC and A Safety Course certificate and took my picture and fingerprints. All in about 15 minutes. It was pretty painless.

They told me It would take 60 - 90 days for them to mail me the License but 7 days later it showed up with my other forwarded mail in my mailbox in the villages.

I'm looking at it now and there is no address on it. I assume it's the same license a Florida resident gets.

Of course when it comes to purchasing a Firearm your official state of residence definitely matters no matter what permits you hold.

You don't have to change anything, when you become a full time resident, your permit does the same.

Once for your original license, after that just a renewal is all that's required....

Yes there is a resident and non-resident license. It goes by your state of residence, if you live in another state, it's a non-residence license, when you become a Florida resident, it becomes a resident license. Resident licenses are accepted in more states than a non -resident license, it does matter...

Now if we could just get nationwide reciprocity.

Yes, I get that. But unlike most states there is not a separate application process nor a different physical license for non Florida residents.

You are issued a Florida Weapons License.

Whether you are a Florida resident or not is a separate issue. Which as you noted does matter in regards to reciprocity.

Submit a change of address. Which by law you are required to do within 30 days of said address change:

Change of Address, Division of Licensing - FDACS

I renewed on line. I took a selfie of myself and sent it in for the renewal. I forgot how much the renewal cost. I believe the CCW is good for five years, if I am not mistaken. I originally applied on line the first time, upon arriving in Florida and went to the police station for my finger prints. I also originally purchased a passport photo which I believe I got at Walmart or PackNShip. Not sure, but it was close by and where they advertise passport photos. Like I said, the renewal that I did on line, I just used my cell phone photo and uploaded it with the application.
I did not have to go through the classes or go to the range since I had a DD214. However, I did go through the class in another state when I received my CCW there. I enjoyed the class, even though I had previous experience as a firearms instructor (years ago) and have been a consistent shooter at local ranges for decades.
