The two electric providers (Duke and SECO) had different outcomes in the Spanish Springs area. SECO stayed up 100%, but Duke served areas out for 8-12 hours including the entire town square...that was a weird cart drive Thursday night!

I'm in the village of Woodbury on the north end. Never lost power or Internet (quantum fiber).

We are not in the Villages proper, but share a boundary with Bridgeport at Miona, Lynnhaven, and Ashland. Our power went out Wednesday night at 7 and came back on Friday morning at 11.

The weird part is that we called Duke 5 times, and on call #3 Thursday afternoon we were told that our ticket was resolved and closed as the power was back on. It wasn’t. All our neighbors started calling and were told the same thing. If it wasnt for persistent calling by us, Duke never would have realized that their system was wrong. We likely sat powerless for 18 or so hours longer than we needed.

Then yesterday afternoon, we get an automated call from Duke telling us the power will be back on by Sunday, 10-14 by 11:59pm. We’d already been back on for several hours. Online update map showed all of our area including the aforementioned villages out. Apparently Dukes left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing and it does not inspire confidence!

Been in Silver Lake for so many years. Other than minor blips we’ve lost power three times. 2004, 2017 and 30 hours last week.

No in DeLuna (SECO), but we did have a brief surge that affected our TV/internet, and turned on two living room lamps that had been off. These are the kind of lamps you just touch the base to turn on. None of our lamps that have to be switched on were affected. We also had our bedroom ceiling fan lights flicker a few times around midnight when the winds were at their strongest, but that’s it.

I would love to see a map of all the power grids. I know who you don’t want, Leesburg Electric.

All the above should answer the question: "Should I invest in a backup power generator"?
