They probably throw the rest of the potatoes in the loose potato bin. Actually, they sell loose red and loose baking potatoes so there wouldn't be a reason to ask them to open a bag. However, sometimes I'd like to buy a few white or yellow ones and I've never seen those loose. I wish they weren't in 5-lb. bags. That's just too many.

You are right. I have bought 1/2 loaf of sour-dough five-grain Italian. It never occurred to me that someone had asked them to split a loaf.
I thought it was split because it's a bit more expensive than regular shelf bread. Live and learn.
I wonder if Fresh Market is as accommodating as Publix?

I prefer to eat what I need at the store and leave no evidence.

You can find me by following the trail of crumbs.

It's nice they would do something like splitting loaves, etc, but I would never ask them to do so but that's me.
