Default Who's That Knocking On My Door?

At about 7:20 AM this morning (January 1, 2016) some strange knocking woke me up and before I could get my pants on and get out there to see whom or what Beau was barking at this person was gone.

It was a very odd kind of knock more like something wood striking against wood. Like Gandalf knocking with his stick/wand on Frodo's door. Maybe someone came looking to send me on an adventure or maybe it was just some drunk New Year Eve's reveler finally coming home from a long night who got very lost.

Curious...we found new footprints in the sand/dirt (we are prepping to put new mulch down) out front of our house yesterday. but no one knocked on our door. I thought it was for checking the termite trap system, but my wife indicated that she got a "service" update that it was checked just before Christmas.

The ice maker on my Whirlpool refrigerator makes sounds exactly like you describe, in the middle of the night it sounds like some one is knocking on my door. I was going to start a new thread on this but you beat me to it!

Back in the old days, we used to go to the door to see who was knocking, even without pants on Now we go to the internet!

It was not the ice maker. I am quite familiar with that sound and Beau does not bark at that.

No knocking this morning which was good because I was a little depressed by my 1:00 AM loss to Walvisbaai in the FunTrivia Weekly Knockout Tournament and was sleeping in. That's two weeks I have fallen to him but last week was not in the final round. This was in Tournament 42. FunTrivia Elimination Tournament Bracket Chart

I really hope I get someone else next week other than Walvisbaai. Walvisbaai's user profile -- FunTrivia.com

I have come across these players before whom I just cannot seem to beat.

I still have no idea who or what came a knocking yesterday.

Funny. There are some Villagers who are doing the Knockout Tournaments but they are in higher Knockout Rounds unless there are Villagers I do not know who are on Funtrivia. Maybe Walvisbaai is a new Villager. Just kiddin.

It could have been someone who forgot that there was no Friday golf yesterday and was looking for her golfing partner in my mother.

Or you could install something like a ring doorbell (Ring Video Doorbell for Your Smartphone | Ring). It is a connected doorbell with a video camera, two way audio and motion detection. You can always see why came near your door (whether they ring the bell or not) and you can answer your door and see/talk to who is there without having to go to the door (or even be at home).

Knock-And-Walk Away Slowly

When we were kids you would knock on the door and run away, Knock and Run. We thought it was funny. You had to run or you would get caught. Down here you got a full 8 minutes before the guy get's to the door.

[I got the name wrong,,,,it was Ring and Run]

That's funny. It did take me a few minutes to get my pants on and move slowly as I tried to figure out who or what was knocking on my door so strangely. It sounded like the knock of a wooden cane or something like that on the door. "Yes, Gandalf. What is it?"
