Imprisoned Native American activist Leonard Peltier faces 'last chance' parole hearing after murdering two FBI agents in 1975 | Daily Mail Online

“At Federal Correctional Complexes (FCCs), institutions with different missions and security levels are located in close proximity to one another. FCCs increase efficiency through the sharing of services, enable staff to gain experience at institutions of many security levels, and ENHANCE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS BY HAVING ADDITIONAL RESOURCES WITHIN CLOSE PROXIMITY .”

not sure if this will help ease your mind.

We have lived near 2 and this the third. It's no big deal. IMHO you're way over the top on this one. just forget it's there and move on.
Coleman is a federal correctional which has 4 levels of security ranging from low to a high level 2

I still believe someday The Villages will take over the CFP and convert it into a Rec Center!

I'm sorry but that is probably the funniest thing I've read today. I would absolutely love to see that!

Default Coleman FCI Scum

And scumbag pedophile Larry Nassar (abuser of the Olympic and other gymnastic girls) has been at Coleman for almost a year, serving up to 175 years. I suspect he'll die in prison one way or another. Another prisoner just stabbed him in April, but he survived.

That will probably never happen....but as part of a treaty between BOP and ToTV, the former has agreed to house some of the latter’ worst repeat offenders. The area, known as C block, short for Curmudgeon is believed to have housed prolific posters such as GE, JM, SUTB a couple of guys from MN and WI as well. *

Maybe the developer should purchase the prison and give it a TV style facelift. Then they could house drunk golf cart drivers, covenants violators and TOTV rulz violators there when caught. Of course TOTV would need to go in partnership with them or maybe just rent space since this is such a well behaved group.

Lets be clear, this piece of garbage did not just murder two Law Enforcement agents, he stopped and calmly executed the agents by shooting them each, at point blank range, in the head as they lay helpless.
This is NOT a human being, this is a dangerous animal.

According to the charges, he was only dangerous to those two FBI agents. They were specifically targeted during a specific incident that had nothing to do with the Villages. If he's let go, and shows up in the town square, maybe just - try not to bring up political activism against Native Americans. As long as you remember that, you should be fine.

Several years ago I was invited to accompany a friends on a tour of Coleman arranged by one of the car clubs here. Her husband was disinterested. I wanted to go but I knew my husband would really like the chance, so I offered it to him. They toured a low level security unit, encountered some of the inmates, and were treated to lunch prepared by them.

I would be much more concerned about the people who aren’t in prison that should be. I am not at all concerned about who is locked up in Coleman.

Recall that Whitey Bulger was there for a while. Probably in the area with the most security. He was killed in a much less secure prison in West Virginia.

On another note I recall looking for my old boss from my Reno days and his name kept coming up over-and-over again as a person being sued. It turned out various inmates were suing him as he had become the warden of a prison.

He had been interested in crime and punishment when I had worked under his supervision at various locations around the Reno-Tahoe area. Food service concern.

Being alert to surroundings and circumstances is being aware.
We lived, some years ago, about half a mile from a Juvenile Prison.
The actual inmates were never a problem, in fact a couple of the lads helped me dig out some footings on day release, but our village had a goodly number of burglaries and shop theft at weekend visiting time.
Probably early arrival parents and friends, passing the time before admission.

Not talking about lights, speakers or what one may have seen on Shawshank Redemption. You can be sure BOP has policies/procedures in place in the event of any security breach. Im pretty sure the developer did his due diligence on our long time abutters (sure BOP was in some of those meetings)....i dont think he would've expanded in that general area if he thought it would be an issue.
i agree, refuse to live in fear, and am not a NIMBY. this is a funny thread, but for entertainment purposes only
