We looked at so many homes when we came down to buy. The last house we stepped into we both looked at each other and said, "This is it"! I never want to move!

bigger garage, one more bedroom...more yard.
For us, we wanted a small home, small yard but when in paradise, sometimes you want to graduate to the next adventure. I really doubt if it is because of bad neighbors that people move. I think once you get here and experience your first purchase, you just say, "Let's see what's out there." How can you have bad neighbors when they are 65 and older? Loud Rock music? Loud parties? Maybe gossipy neighbors, maybe grumpy neighbors, but just look around the corner and there are zillions of more neighbors to choose from. So don't be afraid to move if you want. We welcome everyone in the villages. Right everyone?

On average, a Villager will move three times within The Villages during their time here.

They move for all the reasons stated. I know a couple that moved because they met and got married here. Rather then move into one of their homes, they pooled the resources and bought a new home that was theirs.

But, yes, bigger homes, smaller homes, divorce marriage, don't like the neighbors, decide they don't like the design of their home, they move for hundreds of different reason. One thing is that most of them stay in The Villages once they are here. A few leave, but most stay.

The following title you have chosen for the thread is incorrect:

"Why does everyone in TV keep moving?"

An accurate question would be:

WHy do SOME in TV keep moving?

Most of us do not!

My guess would be a lot of moves are from initial impulse buying. We are snowbirds who originally came when we were 54 and 55. We bot a little seasonal place on the historic side because we weren't sure if we really wanted to be here with all these 'old people' LOL. Well several years have past and we have slowly decided we would we like 3 bedrooms, garage and most of all a dishwasher! Now that we are soon to be 61 & 62, we are fitting in quite nicely with the 'older people' ha ha.

People move for basically two simple reasons 1) need 2) want.
Experts claim that most people end up retiring with about 93% of the income that they had when working. I question that claim. However, I do believe there next claim that as time passes that % drops. So unless a retiree is quite wealthy s/he needs to cautious about too many spend thrift habits.

My wife and I thought about our needs present and future. We had many beautiful homes and before we retired they were pure investments. We were fortunate in that we just missed the bursting of the housing bubble. In fact my wife has been tracking our last home since we moved in 2006. Unfortunately our buyer recently sold it at a loss of over $100,000 of what he paid us. a very big hit and I feel badly for his family especially since they have a special needs child.

My wife knows me well and she knows I get itchy so we spent from 2004-2006 deciding on what we needed and we purchased a home that fits our needs and wants in a location that we found very welcoming.

If I get that itch and it needs to be scratched then our move won't be within The Villages but to another community, perhaps another state but it won't take place unless we can make a reasonable net profit meaning in this economy it will not come to pass . both of my children have told me they have no desire to live here and so we are making preparations so that when they go to sale this house it will be as uneventful as possible.

In my neighborhood the reasons for moving were:

Downsizing
Better view
Family issue
Upsizing
Economic
Independent living

Upsizing would probably be higher on the list if a lot of homes had nowhere to expand.

We have friends who have moved 7 times in TV. Each time they have made a nice profit. It's how they make their living.

I think most moves are caused by changes in circumstances rather than from impulse buying.
It's really hard to predict what will happen in one's life two years or five years or ten years in the future.
I find it's usually the unexpected that happens, not the anticipated.

Thank G-d because we can. My husband and I just purchased our third home in less than three years. First a patio villa, then a courtyard villa and now a designer. What's left? Who knows, lol.

Isn`t it great that people can change their address and still stay here in such a beautiful peaceful location .
From my perspective the only thing we are missing that would make this 100% perfect would be an ice arena !
