LOL I live in PA and TV. In PA we have weekenders who come from NY and NJ. Full-timers dislike them. Then I go to FL and I'm a Snowbird and full-timers don't like me !!! Don't be too upset that full-timers don't like you too much! Everyone in every part of the country would like a full time neighbor for many reasons. There are grumpy people where ever you go. Don't let them get to you and enjoy the good people. There are many in TV !

I can understand disliking people who rent their homes out because renters use everything and cause all owners to pay higher bills for maintenance. The people who own rental property make money and the non-rental property owners foot the bill. On the other hand the real snowbirds who own property pay the full bill and only use the facilities part time. Disliking seasonal owners makes absolutely no sense to me either.

I think that is an over exaggeration. I have wonderful neighbors that happen to be snowbirds. The joke is that in autumn the license plates turn colors instead of the leaves. In general, snowbird season means an increase in traffic and difficulty finding parking spaces at the squares. Also, restaurants become more crowded. If that makes people despise snowbirds that’s pretty sad.

I don’t think snowbirds are despised. Our neighborhood loves our snowbirds;however, snow birds can make us grumpy when we can’t get our favorite tee time, have to arrive an hour early to get into classes, can’t get in our favorite restaurant without long waits, etc. Its not personal. Btw many snowbirds do not take good care of their property. I am thankful that most do.

I’m sorry to disappoint but I can “afford” two homes but choose to live in one place. Nice try.

Most of the snowbirds I’ve met at various clubs are great people. They are kind and respectful. The only thing that is negative is that there are so many and facilities and roads become so overcrowded.

Not despised at all by us. We miss our seasonal neighbors.

We don’t despise snowbirds. We miss our neighbors, but do like less crowds. Looking forward to seeing them again & catching up.

I know one retired doctor who keeps looking for a Canadian about something about a World Series and a lobster dinner bet on it.

One of my favorite Talk of the Villagers husband worked up in PA as a helicopter pilot for charters. At least, that was what I thought. He could have been in some other kind of work with helicopters. She came down for much of the year. He was here on-and-off. She also lived down the block from me.

Although we are newer to TV we have lived in a Florida resort town (Key West) for over 30 years. "Snowbirds" pay amenity fees year round while only using the amenities part time. Can't very well complain about that. We like to frequent restaurants off season since they are quiet and the staff is able to be more attentive. I also like that we can support them during their slower times.

What good does the nasty talk really accomplish?
I could go on with a list of good things but………..it has all been hashed over & over on here before.
Have a good summer and welcome back in the fall

Yeah..... something nice said about snowbirds.
I think it's kind of silly that people would have any destain for any of their neighbors. We do pay the same in all fees, probably more bc we are not there to fix those little things that most handy men fix on their own place.
We currently have 2 or 3 little things going on at our place that really need addressing....can't ask a renter or neighbor to fix, yet can't/shouldn't wait til fall.....ie: sprinkler head, flickering light, intermittent running dishwasher. If we were there we know how to tackle...hence, a quick flight next week.

But we are all lucky to be able to have this place to enjoy.

Default Lack of facility care

This does not apply to all seasonal residents, I appreciate so many.
However there is a general lack of care during season. There is an increase in the cigarette butts on the golf courses. The sand traps are not raked. There is garbage along side the road.
There is horns honking for pauses at the red lights, or in the round abouts.
There is a general rush and general disregard with some individuals seeming to feel entitled.
This is some of the reasons there is resentment.
I personally am happy you are paying amenities fees all year round, which helps to lower mine.

That's not "human nature", that's called RACISM.

It's a gut feel after living here (fulltime) for 9 years. I occasionally will have a conversation with someone who disparages snowbirds, but those discussions are extremely rare. I have been the leader for 2 large groups (150 people plus each) that have included both fulltime and snowbird residents. I've never heard of anyone in those groups who have not been excited to welcome our snowbirds back. So take the complaints with a grain of salt, and remember if you are basing your thoughts on what you read here and on other social media, you are getting an extremely small sample size, and one that in my opinion tends overall to be slanted toward the negative about such topics.
As with all social media topics including how to fry bologna.
