I'll bet the people that lost everything , still don't have electric, don't know where their next meal is coming from etc. Would be more then happy to trade places with us. I think anyone who's so upset and unhappy with the way this place is run or managed should look else where as I'm quite sure you could sell your house real quick. I count my self lucky as he'll. Lost a few shingles a few br-anches off my Palm tree,-and had to clean up the yar1d and the lanai. Gee -what a bitch.
Ok waiting for the comments.

Another well-spoken post! Thank you for saying what I've been thinking!

When faced with a problem, think solutions. It stops complaints. If needed, ask for solutions, that is not complaining.

There is a great book that teaches you how. So many people just say "Stop it" but this book, "Letting go of ego", shows you how. (And yes, this is my field...a major one anyway).

There is only one perfect place that I know and I'm not quite ready to go there yet. I have a grandson yet to graduate from college and a granddaughter from high school. I believe there is a wedding in the near future, etc., etc. and at least three things still on my bucket list. Well, you get my point.

However, if you find a better place to live in the meantime, I wouldn't mind knowing about it. "I am a man of fixed and unbending principles, the first is to be flexible at all times" Anonymous

The pond behind us was up by about 10 feet, looks to be about an acre size. Right now it looks to be down by about 4 feet maybe five. The developer really planned well for this kind of devastation for the ponds and golf courses to take the hit of the impact of such a major storm. We are so lucky that we don't have that 10 feet of water in our house. It's inconvenient because the groceries are not fully stocked, wait a little bit to get gas, however it could have been a lot worse there could've been a tornado spinoffs and much more devastation. No matter where you live you're going to get some weather related issues.

I have always admired your level head and fair assessment of things. I hope to meet you in person one of these days.

The Villages - Irma Flooding of Golf Courses - YouTube

The Villages have a unique plan for handling excessive rain fall and will turn on sprinklers area wide to drain the retaining ponds to make them lower ahead of a storm. I didn't know the golf courses would flood to save the homes. Good planning.

THEN there's the story of the 8000 feet of copper wire that was stolen which further slows down the progress. That person is beyond selfish. If you're on the other local social media sites you'll read the heart breaking stories of folk who are stepping up and helping their neighbors. Of course, there too, there are the complainers as well but I think they're everywhere. Some of it is we've gotten so used to the comforts we are used to and take for granted.

It is a week tonight since we had the widest Hurricane in the history of record keeping.. It felled huge oaks and caused a lot of damage with it's wind. I think that in three weeks most repair expectations will be met here in The Villages and things will be repaired, and no one ever will say, gee the women in Warranty tried hard or the people worked day and night to get the lights back on or it wasn't so foolish to have all the sprinklers on and the golf courses flooded instead of the homes. YES. There are valid things to bitch about but it seems like no one keeps in perspective that we are all still alive and the damage is far less than most of us expected. No people were injured, no windows blew out, no roofs blew off. Modular homes have a different set of expectations sadly, and they were harmed. But like Governor Scott kept saying, you can fix structures but you can't restore a person's life.

There may be some areas of the golf courses where the ground is still soggy, however it has nothing to do with good planning.

The courses were strewn with all kinds of debris that must be cleaned up before they are anywhere close to any kind of shape to be played upon.
