I too hope they were caught and their grandparents were scolded, Crummy Buttons.

The OP did not say that there was any damage done. Golf carts drive on the courses all the time.

So like the kids did nothing. Maybe they where just driving around, Maybe they are playing the course the next day. Sounds like a lot about nothing. Rumors.

JoeC1947, When people ask me ,what I do not like about the villages, this is it. Old people, starting a post without any facts and everyone jumping onboard.Still cannot find out what the kids did wrong. Seems that there are a whole lot of folks who do not like the youngsters here.

I agree with your post. Also, if they did belong to grandparents in The Villages, they should have been told the rules and somehow supervised in the beginning......... A lot of these kids (I am imagining) "might just come from a place where they ride their own ATV's and such"..........but the golf course is NOT the place for these antics. Lots of Vermont kids have ATV's and Snowmobiles, etc., dirt bikes.... Totally different rural and woodsy territory........not to be used on golf courses. Golf carts not to be used as ATV's, etc. or to damage the greens. This is why I always wonder, when I read threads about people who want to move to The Villages with their children........it's a retirement community. Yes, visitors are allowed, but they should abide by the rules. We as grandparents would definitely tell them the rules........... Where were their parents?? P.S. Our grandchildren are presently at Disney World, Harry Potter Universal Studio and that's their preference. They are loving their April school vacation. |

The golf courses don't belong to us, and those are the rules. This may be new to folks who just moved here but WE don't own them, they aren't common areas. I don't mean to sound harsh, but have lived on golf courses for three decades, and have seen and helped pay for the damage done by kids...who may or may not have "meant well" So I truly understand what your kind thoughts are... .and that is my fairest response. There are some areas that golf courses have public paths adjacent to them and that may have been where these kids were and this all just might be another "tempest in a teapot".

You're right, Gracie. Didn't even think about the paths being strictly for golfers.
Love the tempest in a teapot.....haven't heard that in years! |

If I'm not mistaken there is a multi-modual path that weaves through mira mesa golf course. Maybe the OP was mistaking perfectly legal golf cart operation for something else, maybe they were lost and frightened. Since there was no damage reported I'd rather see children getting their jolly's out in a safe place rather than on the roads. Come on people, I know it was a long time ago but we were all kids once. Let them have some safe fun.

please reread the op's orig post - they were finishing play on the 9th hole - and could only be on the course to do so!
