I know there’s a florida highway patrol and a Florida department of law enforcement. Never heard of florida state police. Maybe they changed their name sometime in the past.

Like a lot of shootings, armed robbery and assaults go on in Old Town, USA, correct?

You would be amazed at with felony arrests I made during a simple speeding stop.

Let them do their jobs….

I for one would welcome some enforcement on the golf cart paths. Too often I see people drinking and driving, running stop signs and just being too daring in the operation of golf carts.
Laws? As we read the posts it is the same pseudo names that post that they do not follow stuff like speed limits.
When, caught the post will be about all the others that did not get caught.
Law, they do not need to nor can they possibly catch everyone. It is self policing.
Catch one or two and others will hopefully turn the governor back down to where it is supposed to be.

Maybe patrolling will prevent an unnecessary injury or death.
Endless posts about the other person.
I used to take a safe driving course every 3-4 years. I would save you if I recall 10% on collision insurance and 20% on comprehensive. For people with violations on their license, usually going to have their license suspended or removed, they too could take this course and have points removed. It was truly an adventure in what some people, "think."
These courses were usually given by retired police officers. Wisdom from one your goal should not be to get even, to teach others how to drive BUT THAT EVERYONE GETS HOME SAFELY.
Endless posts about walkers, dogs, bikes etc. There is no such thing as an accident. Almost all accidents are avoidable. The goal is EVERYONE GETS HOME SAFELY.

Thought you got out more than that comment indicates?

Hardly NASCAR - a golf cart will max out, consistent at 23 or 24 MPH (they could do 25 going down hill, but not sustainably). That’s 20%
None are doing 30.

That’s like going a little over 40 on a 35 road or 84 on the turnpike.

I would prefer the police spend time keeping the CARS at speed limit than a golf car going 23 MPH.

We moved here in the summer of 2016, when two ladies in a golf cart were killed at Colony Plaza when they were hit by a car.

Another person was killed in a golf cart trying to turn from Morse onto Rio Grande.

A few years later a guy was killed in a golf cart trying to cross 441 near the Villages Hospital.

Those are just the cases my old brain can remember

Unfortunately you didn’t understand nascar was a joke. Anyways…Golf carts do not max out at 24mph. Many can go 35mph and more. I see them all the time flying by cars going full speed. Besides the drivers who refuse to use a signal, turn at the wrong spot, fail to safely merge at roundabouts , the list goes on and on.

Default Golf Carts and Bikes

Golf carts are about the same as bicycles, neither of which afford much protection when involved in an accident with a vehicle. You can’t really go against one group without enforcing the other. Going further, bicycles are permitted on roadways where golf carts aren’t. Neither require any registration etc. I don’t see bicycles or golf carts enduring any serious changes here in the Villages. As for tickets, it sure will be interesting to hear what a judge says about so called violations. Reality says issued tickets or fines won’t be enforced.
