I poured out my coffee and waited for her to finish. As she was loading the blower onto the trailer, I walked up to her and said very calmly: " I don't mean to be rude, but would you tell me why you would blow all of your trash onto me, and my drive and yard, instead of the people whose yard you are working in ? I said this in a very conversational, NOT confrontational, tone. She looked at me and YELLED: MY BOSS OWNS THIS COMPANY AND HE SAID WE CAN'T BLOW NUTTIN' ON OUR CUSTOMER'S PROPERTY BECAUSE THEY ARE PAYING US !". At that point I realized she, and possibly the other male, were mentally challenged, so I nodded very slightly and went in to get a clean cup of coffee. As an aside, these were the very same two individuals I had given fresh, cold, homemade lemonade to in large disposable cups just weeks ago because they looked so hot ! Just wondering, might be very pleasant if the villages did away with blowers all together like some of these places have ! ?

I care for my own lawn and have an ego battery leaf blower. After I edge, it throws dirt and debris onto the curb, road, and driveway. I use my leaf blower for a total of about 2-3 minutes to blow the stuff back into my own yard. Just like anything else, little common sense is needed to operate a leaf blower. You obviously never point it at anyone. The people that maintain the lawns around here seem to understand this because when they see people walking by they stop blowing.

Never heard of this. Would not support such. What a stupid concept. The whole process of cutting the lawn is loud. Electric blowers are inefficient and do a terrible job.
More importantly banning gas blowers today, what would be next before you can do nothing but sit in your house and stare out the window.
I don’t think individuals think through these ridiculous ideas and what the real consequences would look like.

if it is truly just problem with the amount of decibels these type of appliances put out how about putting a bane on motorcycles that don't have mufflers anymore you get the picture this is a slippery slope.

There is already a prohibition on straight pipes on motorcycles nationwide. Every state outlaws them. Enforcement is another matter entirely.

A law banning gas AND electric blowers?

First, consider the origin of this "movement". Then consider the state (Florida) in which we live. My guess is that, in consideration of both, this idea has all the chance of becoming law as does a snowball surviving in hell.

Second, consider Villagers and the proclivity of geezers everywhere of making mountains out of molehills. I remember Mom telling me once that "you'd bitch if you were hung with a new rope". Hopefully I've become more of a live-and-let-live person. This just doesn't strike me as something worth being concerned about.

I own an EV, all my lawn care tools are electric the convince is unbeatable.
But I remember there was a posting a while back about the range of electric golf carts, that is probably what you really should look into before you decided.

It's only loud because people have chosen to buy gas mowers and gas leaf blowers.

I have a really hard time believing no one here, in The Villages, age 60 or older, doesn't remember using an unpowered push-mower on their lawn at some point in their youth. Or a rake, or a push-broom to clean up the driveway and sidewalk.

None of those things involve much noise at all. The process is slowed down, it requires that you work, it builds upper body and core muscles, and it's a cardio workout.

For larger properties, you could even hire a farm that brings goats over to trim the lawn for you. They eat the grass. They also poop it out, which makes the wild berry vines and bushes very happy.

Since the whole idea originated in California, the simple answer is that THEY DON"T

And the irony is that if California banned leaf blowers, their number of people employed would drop by about a million
