It's because of the venue. Invite him to play on your lanai and invite a couple friends and it will be $5000 a ticket. Put him in the polo field so there can be 10,000 tickets and the price will come way down. He gets a base price plus a % of the ticket sales. He does not work for free just like none of us did.

Went to the Miami Patriots game in early December and the tickets were a lot more then this. If I was there I would be buying tickets. For that venue it's a great price.

I guess were used to entertainers "pretending" to be someone famous. Seems everytime I read the entertainment schedule and think I'd like to see that one, reading further it turns out to be a "wanna be" or as they advertise "a tribute to". He's the real thing but I wouldn't pay that much.

Thumbs down

Willie probably has no idea where he is. Willie is a serious dope addict and he will not see any of my money, that's for sure. His appeal to the younger generation is sad IMHO.

I would rather skip Willie and go see Phil Dirt and the Doziers ... Same venue. Save 150 per ticket.

Saw BB King for the price of two cokes in a Reno casino around 1982. The room was maybe 30 x 30 ft. Two drink minimum was all you paid for the show. What a deal when compared with Willie Nelson and family. Do really like the Willie Nelson of a few years ago. Not sure how good he will be now.

I'd pay $175 to see Ricky Nelson!

Saw him when I was 12....now that would be a "Spooky" experience to see him today!

Definitely would be worth $175 to see Ricky Nelson today if he knew where he had been and could talk about it.

Default Willie

Used to be a fan of Willie Nelson and his songs, especially his cowboy ones. But that was back in the day.
Nowadays his voice is hoarse (from smoking too much weed, no doubt) and he can't carry a tune.
$175. No way!!!

I heard Willie cancelled the concert because he is ill. Many fans will be disappointed.

We received a call at 3:00 from the Box Office advising he was ill. They are hoping to reschedule. I hope so. I was looking forward to going.

He's a 60's icon. I'd love to see him but not at that price. I don't think he has any appeal to the younger generation.

No one is getting ripped off. If you've got 8000 seats you can charge less than if you have 1000 seats. If, as stated above, 75% of the seats are sold at those prices, it seems there are plenty in our community who feel it 's worth it to see Willie here vs. driving to Seminole or Jacksonville.

I really doubt this signals anything more than the possibility of more name acts coming here from time to time, rather than the end of the $20 ticket.
Direct, sensible, concise, precise, logical, to the point, excellent.

Excellent post from mikeod.

Uncle Willie's cancelled concert makes the IRS sad as all that money was going to them.

IMHO - Count me as someone who not pay the $175 per ticket.
