I checked out the buying event in the waterfront hotel today. Figured I would bring 4 silver quarters and see what the deal was against real silver value at 78.00 per ounce market. Waited 30 min to be offered 5 bucks each coin.
The amount of silver in each has a spot value today of 14.00. I went up 441 to Bobs coin and got 48.50 for the 4. Very good deal. Just for your own info if you were thinking of selling anything. Good luck. |

In my opinion, buying and selling gold and silver coins or jewelry is a waste of time and money. The only winners are the dealers who buy and sell these items.

You realize some are old enough that silver coinage was saved when the copper sandwich coins were foisted on the population. They just held on to the old stuff just like people are now collecting pennies.

There are two local buyers, Coast to Coast & Bob’ Coins, that have been here a long time. So they must be treating their customers well.
They don’t come every few months, camp at a hotel, and then leave. I would recommend Coast to Coast…..

These fly by night dealers showing up periodically at a town square hotel are looking to take advantage of unknowledgeable and or desperate folks looking to sell precious metals at discounted meltdown raw material values. |

A few weeks ago I had 'rediscovered' my silver ingots I had bought from a couple of brothers, before they started their gas station pizza business. I'm sure most here will catch the bad joke (Hunt Brothers), that the young guy at Bob's didn't. ![]() The lady repairing my watch band at Plaza Jewelers suggested Bob's to get the best values, so I called them. When asked what they paid for silver, they said "we pay $5 below spot." I asked if spot was determined from the previous day's close and he responded..."nope, the minute you open the (come to find out LOCKED) door." I checked when getting out of the car and it was at $80.02, but the guy who finally served me after a 5 minute wait (it was busy in there) said it had went up to $80.03! Yeah! ![]() So they bought my heavy box of 45 year old ingots @$75.03oz. I also sold them some 165 year old Liberty/Morgan Dollars that they paid $55 each (after looking them up and not just making a flip offer), of which 'melt' was only around $34. Then they asked the big question..."check or cash?" LOL It's a very well-lit showroom, locked door, lots of staff, no visible armed guards (but I'm sure they are close and watching) and I was extremely happy overall as a customer...so I highly recommend Bob's Gold & Jewelry (as well as Plaza Jewelers). I agree! I think Coast to Coast offered us competitive prices for our gold and silver.

So, I've been selling my Morgan and Peace Dollars over the last few weeks. Here is the data: Coast to Coast offered $38 per coin. I declined. Bob's offered $40, so I sold maybe 40 Morgans. Gold and Silver Roadshow at Brownwood offered $25, in which, I countered with Bob's is paying $45 and they agreed to that price. This lot had some better dates and condition, so I think it was comparable to Bob's. It's like anything else, you have to know the value of what you are selling. Based upon the daily changes in silver prices and the dates and condition of the coins I sold, I would recommend Bob's. However, if you know what you got, give the Roadshow a try. |

Pawn shops & traveling "We Buy Gold & Silver" roadshows held in hotels are the worst places to sell precious metals.
If you've only got a few hundred dollars worth of stuff to sell, you'll probably get an OK deal at Coast to Coast & Bob's Coins. However, if you've got thousands of dollars worth of stuff you want to buy or sell, you'll definitely get a better deal at these three places: Ray @ D&R Coin shop 8602 SW State Rd 200, Ocala, FL 34481 352-817-6564 George @ All American Gold & Silver Buyers 2517 E Semoran Blvd, Apopka, FL 32703 407-257-9944 Vermillion Enterprises 5324 Spring Hill Dr, Spring Hill, FL 34606 (352) 585-9772 Florida Coin Dealer | Silver & Gold Coins | Buy & Sell Call Coast to Coast or Bob's Coins and ask what they are paying for whatever it is you're trying to sell, and then call any of the three shops above to compare prices--it pays to shop around! |

If you need cash, selling silver is a way to get it. Selling silver when you don't need the cash is misguided. The purchasing power of cash is declining while silver holds its value. That is currency inflation.

Instead, I brought them to Bob's and got several hundred dollars, an average of 4x the face value. That's a few extra supermarket trips. I'm happy with that. |

I bought Gold & Silver only because of the economy from 1976-1980. Mortgage rates nearing 18% and high inflation. Still have those amounts. Silver was $4 and Gold $300
