I'm in the Sumter County area of TV and just received my postcard stating that Comcast is now Xfinity. Actually, we were leaving the house and the Xfinity truck was working near the house next door....cable utility box I'm sure. Well, on my postcard, there was reference to an Xfinity app for I devices. I have an Ipod. Downloaded the app and now have the ability to manage the three DVR's I have at my house. Since my Ipod only works in a WiFi area, this isn't as good for me as it will be for someone who has an Iphone. Still working on checking out what is available, so far, On Demand movies, free and those with a charge, and tv shows. Neat. Maybe at some time this app will be available for a smart phone, too.
Those of us who like the little teckie toys we have might be thrilled with this little app. Easy to forget to program something you really wanted to watch, but now, if you have the right device, you can schedule your DVR to record.... ![]() |

I was recently gifted with an Ipod. Glad to know this....now if I can take advantage of it..............
I'm still a little afraid of it.

Got a nice free app, Naturespace....wonderful nature sounds. Many are free, some are available at a small price. I put my Ipod near my pillow at night, put on a Tears of Asgard, a rain sound app, and drift off to dreamland. This program has a built in timer, too, so you can set it to play for a short time or a long time. Sometimes I'll use my headphones, really helps one feel like they're out in a gentle rain....aaahhhhh. Also have waves, birds, thunderstorm...it's wonderful! |

Well, it does work, but I'm going to need more training
![]() ![]() And I just now discovered that app is available on my android phone. Had no idea it was working until Mike walked into the bedroom where I'm trying to set this stuff up and asked, "Will you stop playing with your Ipod, I keep getting a pop up right in the middle of my picture telling me "This is DVR #3" OOPS! |

I discovered the Xfinity app for my smartphone about a month ago. I think it's one of the neatest things. We can be out somewhere and program the DVR to record something that we forgot to set it up for before leaving home.
At the time I downloaded the app, we had 2 of the older silver DVRs. One wasn't working properly, so we exchanged it in Leesburg and got a newer black one with a larger hard drive. I found out after I got home and hooked it up that I cannot program it from my smartphone. The support tech told me that the software will not be available until around the end of the year. I'm very disappointed. You can also do your programming from your laptop. The DVRs show up ad DVR1 and DVR2. You just have to figure out which one is which. Actually, I just tried to set up the new DVR to record and it looks like it may have done it. I'll have to check later to see if it actually did. Maybe they have fixed the software.

Another neat feature about Xfinity is once you have your smartphone set up, you can have your home phone forwarded to your smartphone. You can do this from your smartphone and don't have to be home. If you're expecting a call, you just set up your home phone to be forwarded to your smartphone.
We still have a VA area code on our cell phones, but there is no charge for long distance calls with the Xfinity package.
