The Ukraine is a democracy. The US prefers democracies. Putin hates and fears ALL democracies. We can support Ukraine NOW or we can wait and fight Putin when he and China are stronger and the Ukraine may be defeated. If the Ukraine loses, then China takes Taiwan and then Russia goes for Estonia or Rumania. The dominoes start falling in such a way that is bad for the US. The US has the choice of appeasement or resisting Russian bullying. Worldwide democracy or dictatorship rest on a knife's edge at this time in History. And American is NOT exempt from that knife's edge.

Like I said when I started this post, I think Zelenskyy is doing a fabulous job, with what he's facing....I'd share a fox hole with a leader like this any day of the week

the man has courage...and he is leading...against superior odds

I chuckle at that those that have commented on this tread that they think he's a fake... and urge us to do some research....all from the safety of their rocking chairs here in the bubble, where we are safe...yeah, like they know everything

sad how some old people get confused...but then again, maybe they dodged answering the call when they were young and their country called....

I think the US reaction has had the opposite effect on China. The commitment we have made to Ukraine, with no official agreements in place, is historic. And the administration's refusal to back down from the moral high ground has gone a long way towards the US recapturing its world leadership role so casually tossed aside a couple of years ago.
If China has learned one thing, it is not to mess with Tiawan (where we do have hard commitments) during this administration. They will wait for one that is more malleable.

As far as which countries supported the US -- fear is highly motivating. All of the small countries on NATO's eastern edge like Estonia and Romania are very motivated to support NATO including the US. They are afraid of Putin. They want to remain FREE. Putin could enslave them easily IF and IF-after the Ukraine would fall. Sweden and Finland also have something to fear, so they are thinking about BECOMING NATO countries. Germany, France, and the UK have very large economies and France and the UK have fairly large militaries. Germany JUST passed laws to allocate 2% of their very large economy toward military buildup. They are all reacting to fear of Putin's Russia.
