cold weather golfing
I have a question for the golfers that have lived here long enough to get adjusted to the hot weather.
At about what temperature do you feel it is too cold to go out golfing here at TV's? It was about 50 this morning and I was freezing.........last week it was in the 40's ......so I would have to say for me it has to be in the 50's if it is overcast. and in the 40's if sunny Last edited by otherbruddaDarrell; 12-28-2009 at 08:26 AM. |

My wife and I played this morning. There were lots of golfers out at El Santiago and El Diablo. We also played on Thursday in the 50s and I played on Saturday in the 50s.
I did skip last Sunday and Monday when it was in the low 40s. Personally I think there are too many warm days to play in this weather but if the rest of the group wants to play, I will play.

I come from up north also ... so I will play anytime the temperature is above about 35, not too windy, say 25 knots, and not raining.

I'm not a year rounder at TV so I can only speak to Jan/Feb time frame. We play when it gets above 45 degrees - below that it's day trip time. As far as heat goes, we live in Missouri where heat and humidity are sometimes unbearable in the summer but it's never too hot for golf.
Happy New Year - 2 MORE DAYS until we arrive in TV

Temp of 35 with 29 MPH winds = wind chill of 22 degrees! You must be from way up north Those conditions would even stop me. |

Though I'm not a golfer, I am always intrigued to see whether anyone's out there when the wind is whipping around, and wind chills are below freezing! There is always someone! Probably he/they aren't wearing shorts, but there they are chasing the little white ball!
I recall a frigid, windy and snowy Christmas some 50 or so years ago in St. Louis. Traveling from our apartment to my in-laws at about 10 in the morning, we passed a public city-owned course. There was a hardy foursome chasing the bright orange ball instead of the white one! Some folks are, methinks, CRAZY! SWR

I guess I just lowered the temperature that I will play golf in.
It was about 38 degrees at 9am when we played today. We were wearing sweatshirts, jackets and gloves and I golfed better then normal............go figure! |
