I need some opinions... Do you think it is better to buy the house you love or the lot you love? I have purchased a great villa wall lot in Charlotte but because of my budget, and my preferred floor plans, I am limited to building either a cedar with golf cart garage or a lilac with 4 ft extended garage and 2 ft stretch thru bedrooms. Or, buy a villa wall lot 60x90 and build the Iris that I love but have very little yard and close to other houses on both sides. For me it's one of the 3 choices... My one and only requirement is the villa wall, and I like the looks of the stucco, but vinyl would be an option for me. It's just me and 2 small dogs.

Not sure why for just yourself U want a larger rather than smaller home.
there R designers 300' less in size that will give U more yard, and be a few $$ less? Can U explain further?

I have a large CYV. (Arlington model) I love it because of the open floor plan and it is roomy! But our favorite room is the outdoors! Corner lot at the end of the road and so private. We have since put in a pool and added a dog! Feels like a vacation at a resort everyday!

Is the size of the house or the use of a yard most important to you? For me it was to get the house I want on the best lot I could afford. But you have to decide which takes precedence I believe!

...lot, then house. Found just what we wanted. it's a personal thing. We're not focused on houses any more. But a great view with privacy is of utmost importance for us. Good luck with your plans.

I agree, lot, then house. You can change most things about the house, even add a birdcage and summer kitchen if you need more space down the road. But you can't change the lot size or location.

See lot and house go hand in hand. Have to love the house and the lot has to be situated just right. You don't have to settle. Surely there will be more lots opening that will accomadate the house you want to build. You can put your agent on alert to grab one or hold one if it opens up. We got a spec but we looked at 15 houses and took it down to two. Both fit the bill but the one we chose was roomier and set nice on the lot. Building is a pain because of the issue you are running into. And no...any house on a wall was ruled out. Don't like being walled in

Is stucco easier upkeep and cooler or hotter than Vinyl?
