Hi everyone; we are planning to purchase a pre-owned in October and would like to replace the kitchen and bath cabinet surfaces with black granit. This is a designer size home (Bridgeport) large kitchen / 2.5 bath. Does anyone have any idea how much this could cost; ballpark guesstament? Thanks in advance. BJ

Allstar Cabinets in The Villages replaced our kitchen and two bathroom counters with Granite.

They had plans and sizes for all the models, so should be able to give you an accurate quote.

Some granite "patterns" are more expensive than others, probably due to the ease and difficulty in mining that particular kind of rock and how far it must be transported. I think that "Uba Tuba" is one of the lesser expensive ones and "Black Galaxy" is more expensive. The edges of the granite, I can't think of their names but 12rdhd will help me out and probably tell us how much per inch that runs..He also showed beautiful pictures too, and maybe will do that again. The edges whether they are a gentle curve or a double curve etc add to the cost.

So when you go looking for prices, there is a variation due to the factors I just mentioned. As you say..that pretty Bridgeport model of yours has a lot of lovely countertop...it will be so pretty when you have it done.

Duncan Stone who is a TOTV advertiser on the left side did our kitchen and baths. Outstanding job, I highly recommend them. Gracie is correct that the edge can get expensive. I opted for one that was listed for $7 an inch. Now doing as much as I did, lowered the cost per inch a lot. I also had them use a second slab to avoid seams and in our entire home there is only one seam in the counter top. I have a Gardenia with an expanded kitchen which also has an island. Lots of edge inches around that island. I also had a more expensive stone. I believe our total cost was around 8K for kitchen and two baths. Here are some pictures of our granite. That first picture which is the sit up to counter and the sink which are curved, each is a single piece of granite with no seams. Duncan Stone does an excellent job.

Ogee is the edge we have. We used A.R.S. Granite on 441S ....no seams at all on the flat surfaces. We have the Juniper. We are extremely pleased with their work.

PS the pictured granite looks like mine, but I cannot remember the name.

Thanks to everyone for the information; had no idea about the edge configuration making a difference; good to know! We are very excited about moving and I'm certain will have many questions as the months go by!
