My wife and I moved here when we were under 55. We both still work and have plenty of time for activites. Glad we made the move early. Have heard to many people say they wish they had moved here sooner when they were younger. Don't wait. Come and enjoy the lifestyle.

I couldn't agree more with the last 2 comments! Hubby and I moved before we were ready to retire. We're glad we did. Hubby works full time and drives 1 1/2 hours each way to Sanford 5 days a week. Yes quite a drive but the wages and benefits are good for Florida. I work 3 days a week and have for 5 years now. Love what I do and work in The Villages. Jobs now are hard to find though. The medical profession is still the most needed field in the area. Getting a job with "The Villages" seems to be on a good ol' boy basis. My husband has tried several time and has been more than qualified for the job and barely gets a reply and he is not looking for huge wages. We still find time to enjoy ourselves and look forward to the day we can truly retire though the economy is making that hard at the moment.
Life is too short start enjoying what you can as soon as you are able.

The above statement is very true...I didn't come home to this when I lived up North. When I drive through that gate, the first thing I do is is exhale with a big "ahhhhhhh".

I admit that, at times, I get very jealous...especially when I see people on the golf courses...at the pool...tooling around in their golf carts...on the pickleball court...

But then I think to myself...wow, they earned this...they really earned it!

I still have about 10-15 years to go...God willing...and then I will have earned this too.

I fit in what I can...golf later in the afternoon, if possible...the pool on Sundays...the Square if I'm not too tired...

I am so blessed that I was given this opportunity...and I wouldn't change a thing!
Hi Ceejay,
We're moving to TV in a couple months and I'm not going to work anymore but my husband is going to continue to. It's the first time in 20 years for me. I seen you were from Buffalo at one point. That's where I'm from. Lived in Pendleton by N. Tonawanda and out in East Aurora. How about you? I graduated in '74. Just curious. Do you know many people from Buffalo in TV?

Ceejay,
I just read farther into the new villagers forum and saw some additional posts and read that you were from Delevan and Grider area originally. That is to funny because I use to spend my summers there as my parents had a rug cleaning plant on Sheridan Ave. 1 block north of there. It was a dirt road!! Do you know where it is? I use to go swimming at a public pool near there!! I don't know what it was called but it was toward the expressway. I took some swimming lessons too at Fillmore Elem. (I believe that's what it was called) at one time!! How long did you live there? That's to funny!!

Hi DACL! I will PM you so as not to bore the other posters! As far as meeting other Buffalonians, I have not had the opportunity to get to the "Buffalo Club" because they meet on Saturdays...and I work (which is what this thread was all about)!
I can't tell you what a pleasure it was hearing from you!
