Default GPS info

This sounds like a stupid question, but does anyone know which GPS includes The Villages in their maps? Our Garmin does not recognize the name nor the zip code. We had to put in Lady Lake and it took us in a somewhat twisted direction. I can understand that with all the construction the streets wouldn't be listed but I would think the name would be identified in some way.

Five more weeks and we are off to our new winter home. I will be officially retired on 12/31/08. We can't wait!

Thanks.

I have a TomTom and it list all the streets North of Bailey Trail, but once you go south to 466a you are driving blind.

Default Garmin Techs Can Help You

First congrats on your retirement!!! Here's the location for the latest version for your unit. http://www8.garmin.com/support/download.jsp It's probably about $70 for the software but you may need the USB cable too. I'd call Garmin and talk to them. They sent me the d/load cable for free. I have Garmin NUVI 200W with the North America NT 2008 software map. 2009 is now available. This latest version was just released a few months ago. Garmin tech told me that if it shows up on Mapquest, they should have it. "Maybe" Our place is in Hadley and my unit shows zilch for that area. Also if you have any street that you're looking for that's not listed, fill out the map error reporting form. I'd call Garmin for sure. Hope this helped.

I have a Garmin 750 Nuvi with the 2009 maps loaded. I does not cover Hadley, Hemingway or Amelia. This is the newer areas of TV.

I also have to enter Lady Lake and not TV when searching. Another thing I had to change was my route options. I wanted to go to SS and it took me across 466 to 27/441 and then north when there are shorter routes.

Have you tried to upgrade your maps if possible. Garmin get there map information from Navteq as do a number of other GPS companies. With the never ending growth of TV is is hard to keep up to date on all the new streets.

I am glad I have the Nuvi with me. I am new to TV and will only be here for a month. There is no way I could get around TV without it. I have only been here 2 days and without the GPS I would still be looking for the house.

I just updated the maps for my Magellan and it appears to have information down to Odell Circle. Also, often it appears to know what street you are on even though the map is blank...strange...

My Magellan gets angry with me if I am driving south on Odell Circle. It demands that I pull a U Turn. When I get on 466A it comes to its senses.

Thank you for all the good information. My friend has the latest Garmin and it did not include The Villages. I did contact Garmin to let them know my dilemma and to see if they had any suggestions. If I were sure that the updated maps would include TV, my problem would be solved. Up to Odell Circle isn't bad - at least it's better than nothing. I'd be happy if it at least recognized Morse Blvd. and Buena Vista. Time will tell I guess.

You can turn off the U-turn function of your unit.

Tersul,

So...Did Garmin show any streets east & south of Odell & Morse? What street are you looking for? Or maybe you're like me - "Okay I'm here but how the do I get there?" LOL !!! Remember, you're never lost as long as the battery's are charged or the gas tank is full.

Just got a Garmin 350 and it has all the streets all the way down to 466A. My other Garmin stops at Bonita.
