I'm going on an extended family cruise in May. Our stop at Port Canaveral is 2 hours away. So I was thinking about renting a bus and bringing everyone here for a cook out, some outdoor games and indoor partying at Big Cyprus rec center.
Is that doable?
What would it cost me?

You can reserve a room free of charge I believe. Just stop in and ask.

Might be hard to get a room during high season but should be no problem for May. Your big issues might be reserving game areas and food. Not sure of current policy, but it used to be that all food had to come from Hacienda catering or potluck. Have my doubts they'd allow a grill of any type..

Have a great time!

I believe the room is free, but if you have non villagers you have to pay.

The rooms are not free. I had my husband's 6th birthday at Chatham where he works. I was charged $75.

I booked the room at Big Cypress for my big Christmas Party in December.
The cost is $52.00 an hour. That is for the large room that holds 100 and has room for dancing.
The deposit was $75.00.
You can book the card room for no charge. It's smaller

thank-you all
It's early in the planning stages and may not be what my kids want at all. Now I would need to figure out a way to get everyone here. I can rent some mini-vans in Cape Canaveral. If they can be delivered right to the dock that would be perfect.

Check with Lamars, I think they have bus rentals (with driver).

I think I can fit 7 in a mini-van. My brothers and I could take a cab to Hertz and at $70 a pop deliver everyone for less than $500.

Having sailed in and out of Port Canaveral at least 10 times, I should warn you that even though you have a particular type of vehicle reserved, the car rental places don't always have what you reserved. It all depends on what other customers have dropped off, and I don't think they "re-stock" from either the Orlando, or Melbourne, airports to ensure that they have what customers have reserved. As far as I know, all the rental agencies near the port are smaller franchise operations, not corporate owned.

The last time I checked, the base fee was $75 per hour. In addition there is a setup and cleaning fee. (I think around $150). This assumes you have non-Villager participants. If all are Villagers there are no fees.

Book early!

Bonny - you got a good deal. The prices I quoted were given to me 2 weeks ago. However I could easily be wrong about the the setup/cleanup fee.
