Coming down for a life style preview mid December. What should I be looking at while I am there? I'm retired Navy,played a lot of softball until I was 40, took up golf,like to swim and fish and I just turned 65. Wife's screen name is Ebsmom.

Welcome aboard. The Villages will fix you up with some free rounds of golf. They used to give away free movie tickets and meals but now it might just be coupons. Take the free trolley ride around TV to get your sea legs. Have a Villages Realtor show you some new and pre-owned homes (those people will not pressure you to buy). Enjoy the free nightly entertainment on the squares. Feel free to strike up a conversation with the people around you. Time will go fast.

In additon to TV real estate agent, I would find an MLS agent to show you other properties if you are interested in pre-owned properties.

I would look in the newspapwer for activities that interest you. I would go to the neighborhood pools and rec centers.

logdog gave you good advice. Most of all, have fun!!!!!!! Talking to people will increase your knowledge about what you can do while your there.

Be prepared to be blown away by the beauty of TV and it's friendly people.

Hope you enjoy your LPV as much as I did a few weeks ago. You rec'd all good suggestions particularly the trolley ride which gives a good overall picture of the Villages and it takes only 45 minutes. Check out the sales office for the 4 times a day that it runs.

The coupon book is no big deal; i.e. buy a drink, get a hamburger; buy a dinner, get an appetizer; etc. You'll get 2 coupons to play golf - 1 exec and 1 championship. I asked if I could use the 1 championship for another exec. since I am a beginner golfer, but they wouldn't let me.

You'll get a copy of the Recreation Center News for the week that you are there. Look it over to see if there is any activity that sounds interesting and then go to participate or to observe. People are so darn friendly and warmly welcome you no matter what you're doing. Try to get to Katie Bells at the Spanish Springs Town Square.

We were there for a life style trip over Labor Day and scheduled to go back right after Christmas. We were so impressed we can't wait to move (selling the house needs to come first!!) I think the live music on the square sold us, the woodworking, softball and so much to do! We are in a 55+ now but, unless you play canasta, there is next to no activities! We found the trolley tour informative, but were surprised it stayed south of, is it 466 and did not show anything of the Spanish Springs area. I agree people are amazingly friendly, everyone wanted to be your friend!!!

Face it as fun and informative as the Trolley tour is it is a sales tool and it is a sales tour for the new construction primarily so there is no reason to go north of 466. I took a friend on it in October and we were south of Odell Circle and mainly in the area of Tamarind Grove and St James (sp?). I would guess as soon as there is more down there the tour will be south of 466A.

momesu - would definately agree it is part of the whole, nicely unpressured sales pit. However - it is nice to know that there is another section and a newer one coming, Our rep basically press that we had to make our decision "today" as things change - how right she was! It is 2 1/2 months since we went and 2 of the floor plans, and almost everything in our price range are no longer available new due to the concentration on the new section ... lesson learned, things change constantly!!! Stiill looking forward to the adventure!

I took the trolley tour last year, and it did stay south of 466, so I agree it is a primarily a sales tour for the new construction, but it is worth going on as it only lasts about 45 minutes. To get the full picture of The Villages, go north by the Nancy Lopez country club, go the the Spanish Springs area, go to the Historical Side. Don't hesitate to talk to people in the Squares, in stores and restaurants. Most people are happy to talk about their lives in The Villages. And enjoy yourself!
