My wife and I will be moving into our new home in St. James on Jan 19th. Can anyone tell me if the mailbox number is the same as the street address?

Not the same, no. We have a three-digit street number, and a four-digit post office box number. Perhaps the new Villages are diffent, When people send you mail, it should be addressed to your street address, not a mailbox number.

Cool

You'll get your mailbox number, when you get your mailbox keys. Unfortunately, your mailbox number is not the same as your address or house number. It's no big deal...

I notice that a lot of people glue decals to the front of their mailbox so it is easy for them to find their box.

We settle on a new home in St. James on Jan 11 and move in on Jan 13. I see your handle is fishgolf. Freshwater or salt water fishing? I belong to the freshwater fishing club in The Villages

i think putting stickers on the door of your mailbox looks tacky, after you've been there more than a couple times it is easy to remember which one is yours...gn

It does look tacky, but it's a cheerful kind of tacky! Some people have animal decals, some have flags, some have minni mouse or a cartoon character, some have a decal saying "life is good".

Perhaps it's just done in the Village of Belvedere.

Might look tacky but sure helps since I only get to TV about 4 times a year and maybe to the mailbox about 8 times a year for now.

I think I'll put this sticker on my mailbox when I get assigned one!

Oh, and if you're tall, like me, you'll get a mailbox close to the ground, like me.

fishgolf, congratulations on your new home and welcome to The Villages!

Judging from your name I think you may have picked the right place to retire. You'll love it here.

Any Resemblance between your mail box number and your real street address is purely coincidental. All mail is addressed to your street address - NEVER to your mail box number.

I think we'll not put a sticker on our mailbox. That way ours will be the only one without a sticker and easy to find.

I've got stickers on my box.

Put there by a neighbor who sits on The New Cat and stuff for me. Since her box should probably be right above or below mine, and the key I give her has the box number on it, I can't figure why she needed the stickers!?!?!

No, not Alzheimers! She's just slightly "ditzy!"

My wife and I just closed (remotely) on a new home in Pennacamp. We won't be down until February for a visit and to pick up our keys. In the meantime since we do not have a mailbox and keys, where does the mail go for our new address?

Your mail will be in the box. If the box fills up, the remaining mail is put in a larger box at the mail station and in your box will be a key to open the larger box. Hope this makes sense. Everything is really smooth. Beleive it or not, they have done the deal about 50,000 times. Beleive me, your mail will be there.
