Default moving a car down from new england

Good Morning all,
We will be driving down to the villages right after the first of March to look for a new home . We have heard that there is an outfit that will put your car on a flatbed and drive it down and store it for you until you need it. I've looked everywhere and can't find any names, does anyone know of such a service. It would be nice to make the trip in one car. Thanks in advance.................Suedi

I would call a company that moves household furniture such as Mayflower and ask them. We had a car moved that way but it was years ago and I can't recall who moved it for us. (It was a company move while I was still working in corporate america and they coordinated everything.)

My wife drove a car and I pulled the other behind my rental moving van....................then we sold both and went down to 1 car and a couple golf carts.

We would have been better to sell one before moving.

We have not used a transport service but if you do a web search for "car transport" or "auto transport" there are a multitude of companies listed.

Default moving a car

Thanks to all for your input. We have been trying to sell it but no bites yet. We only have 3 1/2 weeks so trying to find other options. Can you trade a 4 year old volvo with 40000 miles on it for a golf cart? SDI

I used Craigslist to sell two cars up in Maine last summer before moving to TV. If you are serious about selling you need to put in a picture of the car and sell it at the "for sale by owner" price or a little below.

Fly me in to pick it up and back to illinois from down there and I will drive it there for you. Heck I am bored here in Illinois. Have my Village home rented for Feb and March so nothing to do up here.

I just emailed my sister to ask her who they used. They came from CT to North Palm Beach. The company picked up her car at their door and delivered it to their door here and was very reasonable. Then she rode with her husband - they live here permanently but go to CT for the summer. They were pleased with the service and plan to do this every year. I'll post again if I find out.

Have you taken it to your local Volvo dealer to ask what he would pay you for it. Before you take it to the volvo dealer also go to Carmax as they will give you a purchase price as well. Know what Carmax will pay before you go to the Volvo dealer. See which one will pay the most. The dealers Volvo or Carmax will give you wholesale or the same that he could buy one at the auction for and then he would retail it. If it is a nice car they will pay a fair wholesale value. If you had it serviced at the Volvo dealer go to the service dept and ask for a print out of the service records to show both. Of course remember that both are in business for is to make a profit.

The more money you put into the car to get it down here the less you will come out ahead after you sell it here.

Just my advice after spending over 30 years in the automible business.

Here's the answer from my sister:

Tree City Logistics, 812-663-5999. The man's name is Phil. He's like a dispatcher who contacts auto transports in your area and makes the arrangements. We got a really nice man from Mass. The cost was $600. We carded $150 to Phil and gave the man from Mass. $500 cash on arrival in North Palm Beach.

We just relocated from RI in November. We also have two vehicles.
We looked up "auto transport" and were given 5 offers from different companies. We paid $600. They picked the car up at our home in RI(on a Thursday) and delivered to our home here in TV(on a Tuesday).

Just make sure about pick up and delivery......some will come to your home ...while others want you to go to their warehouse to pick up.

We're almost two years from making TV our destination, but we plan to take the 2005 325Ci BMW to the dealer this spring to lighten our load. They sold it new and know the car inside and out, it is certified and they are in the best position to get a better price than we might be, and without all the hassle of having to deal with test rides. We decided to wait until spring because it is a convertible and think that timeframe would be the best time to unload it. Also, we are planning on making a serious trip to TV late this fall. For what we get for the car and the insurance savings, it could be the down payment on our dream location

When we were making the move from CT in 2008 we decided we would not need the 2nd car. Checked the car value online and went to Car Max who gave us about $400 less than what Edmunds.com said it was worth.
