I called about the current rates about 10 days ago... they said that they were extremely busy and that they would have someone call me back within 48 hrs... (let's see 10 days x 24 hrs/day = 240 hrs) Still waiting.

I'm about to close on a refinance at 3.75%, lots better than my original (Jan '05) 6.5%!

Don't know whether that's still current or not.

citizens will definitely be higher. There is another on Parr dr. Or ave? In the VilLages that is always lower. They are Community back I believe. I wish we had used them instead of Citizens.

When we closed in Aug 2012, Citizens quoted 3.6 and WFargo quoted 3.5
The guy in citzns said:
" we aren't as big as Wf We can not match a big bank's rate"
DO shop around, my advise.

We went with BB&t, very pleased with the service and the lowest rate we found anywhere here in the TV 2.75 for a 15 fixed.

Default Bbt

BBT is doing a great job and works to earn your business. I would think they are worth talking to as they are growing in the area .

We had a mortgage about 8 years ago which we've since paid off. At the time, Citizens was about 1/2 percentage point higher than other financial institutions. We got our mortgage by shopping online. All paperworks was handled in a timely manner, and and I had a telephone number of a person for the bank (might have been Wells Fargo, just can't remember) who was great at coordinating the details and always responded to calls and emails. I would recommend not going with Citizens.

Yes, 3.75. We closed on 09/19. Others are a little less, but we feared "others" not getting the paperwork done on time for the closing, or a hurricane, or somthing keeping them from being ready on time. It would have cost us $20,000 not to close on the date The Villages chose for closing! BTW, the rumor is that Citizens has NEVER missed a closing due to some glitch on their end. See you soon!
