Need Help
We purchased a house on Buttonwood Run, closed May 26th. Last week my parents went to the house to move some furniture in and noticed a name plate on the lite post. The sign said Rob and Robin Ring @ 2538, today they returned and one of the neighbors told them Rob and Robin were moving in. Wow this is funny. I hope Rob and Robin are enjoying my new home until I get there. Anyone know how we could get the sign taken off our light post? So my new neighbors are not totally confused by this, as we meet them and introduced ourselves to them as Lonnie and Susan!!!

I'm assuming that your house number is not 2538. If that's the case, I'd simply remove the sign and put it up at 2538. If your address is 2538, then you might have problems since you don't know where the sign belongs.

Hopefully, the sign was just installed by the vendor at the wrong house. Is your street address 2538? |

Our Realtor
gave us a gift certificate for a sign for one of the vendors at Sumter Landing.
Once they manufacture the sign, they install it for you. My guess is that there might have been a mix-up with the address? Anyway, I think it'll make a great way to share a laugh and possibly a glass of wine with your new neighbor. |

No our house number is 2542, my parents could not find any 2538 on Buttonwood Run. They tried to remove the sign but had no tools with them to get it off, so it is still hanging.

I know it is just a mistake but it would really upset me too. I would call your agent immediately.

Oh my goodness! I wonder if the vendor has the wrong street? Hopefully by now, you've contacted your realtor and your parents have removed the sign. Maybe they can take the sign back to the vendor assuming they've put some sort of label on it.

reminds me of another move . . .
We moved to California once when my kids were 1st and 3rd grade. I flew out for a week of house hunting, ended up buying new. Went back the morning of my flight and took a photo to show to the kids. I took a picture of the house next door without realizing it wasn't ours! (I am blonde but normally not THAT blonde). House numbers weren't up yet and I had looked at so many houses I actually forgot what I bought.
We pulled into the (correct) driveway a month later and the kids said "this isn't our house." It does end up being one of those family stories . . . |
