But if we used our ID cards, we wouldn't have to pay for the gate keys and it would be another financial loss for TV, especially as often as they get lost and now will be stolen out of the carts (the most common item removed/lost from golf carts).

There's an APP for that.....
I use my cell phone to open the gates.... once I'm within 20 ft of the gate, it opens automatically by transmitting my ID to the pad....
Just saying...

I heard they are going to use the Sunpass system. I wonder if TV residents will get a discount.

Mike, I think they need to put you through the full-body scanner.

Just use the visitors side and push the button, they let everybody in. That's what I do on my motorcycle. If you think getting a card out is a P I T A. then try it on a motorcycle. Pull up to the gate, put it in neutral, get the card out, wave the card, put the card back, put it back in gear and drive thru.

Les, you forgot the "tip bike/try to regain balance" step towards the end there somewhere. That's something I personally try to include......

No, no....really, it works great. Right now, it works about 50% of the time. It seems to work every time I go out the gates, but I'm still having a little trouble entering the gates, but I'm working on it....
Hmmmm....... Full-body scanner ????

What about a bar code sticker on the roof of the cart? If you have a rental or are on a LSP you are out of luck and have to dig for the card.
Another option would be a RFID chip that is similar to the one in the card placed on the post of the cart. Some custom carts may have a problem here though.

The new long gates are the work of your Amenity Authority Committee (AAC). There is no federal or state regulation requiring them; that is a ruse. The AAC wanted to punish a group of very fast bicycle riders who come through the gates without stopping. They are spending $$$$$$ of your amenity fees with little thought about the consequences. PLEASE be sure to report all gate incidents, especially injuries or close calls when gates close without giving you enough time to get through.

New Gates
When is proposal was first announced in both the Village voice and POA bulletin, I emailed the AAC and explained that they were creating a nightmare for people and one that was totally unnecessary given that anyone can pass through the gates at anytime and for any reason. In an earlier post the writer made mention fo the AAC wasting our money and to him I say AMEN

Um... Mich,
Don't try this at home. Mike has an excellent imagination.
