First, welcome! So glad you found us.

No, you won't get booted, you can respond to this thread all you want. But if you start a new thread, suggest you do so in General or whatever forum is appropriate for you. The newcomers thread is for less than 10 posts and you've almost reached that, but I can't imagine Tony or Jan getting upset with you happily responding to this thread. So, have at it and have fun!

Do you have a place here or rent when you come down or stay with friends or ....? Either way, hurry on down. The weather's beautiful, the people are great and the squares are jumpin'.

Default Normal, IL

OK, you know the old joke about Normal and another Illinois town, but let's share it with the rest of the board:

Newspaper headline announcing upcoming wedding: 'Normal man to marry Oblong woman'

Hi Justanothernormalgirl. We are originally from the Peoria area & love TV too. We are heading there this Friday for 10 days and can't wait. Wish the yard ornament in our front lawn was actually producing a buyer for our house so we could stay in TV permanently. Don't miss the cold weather up north.

redwitch, we actually own property in Ocala. We lived there full time a few years ago and now want to go back but just part time. We visit TV often when we are in Florida and we love it. I hope my initial post wasn't confusing, we don't live in TV but we do visit several times a week when we are in Florida so I am new to the forum but not new to TV.

cybrgeezer, I remember that joke!

Shalyjo, I grew up in Peoria!

I know the area well, we used to live right down the street and I remember the traffic jams when the new year started and all the students came to town! Have you seen the campus lately? There are new buildings and new student housing all over the place.

It was serious traffic for sure Shalyjo, we got into a routine of timing our trips out of the house just so we could get back in our driveway, now, that's traffic!

Flat land is right, champion6, especially now with the crops down, you can see for miles, and miles! The bad thing is pretty soon there will be snow blowing across those empty fields, brrr!

We had Lake effect snow for halloween. Nothing stuck to the ground. All I kept singing was, I'm dreaming of a white halloween. Be in tv in four days.

An after thought about Halloween:

Eons ago, when my daughters were into going up an down the street (private and, theoretically, gated), I'd usually accompany them, while my wife manned our own door. Many, if not most, of our neighbors at that time also offered the chaperoning parents a little something to fortify themselves. It was always something liquid!

In later years, after the daughters were either gone or didn't care anymore, we became completely disillusioned with the whole scenario, especially when certain elements from outside began arriving by the carload. Treats for tall, dark, muscular teen-aged youngsters were seen as safety precautions, and we soon kept the lights turned off and stayed in the back of the house.

I found that over the last several years, I hated the night intensely!
