Default Renters Mail Issue

I am retiring in March and we have rented a house for the month of April. In April I will be expecting some very critical mail sent to my home. Items that I need ASAP.

* I can have it held at the Post Office, but I need it ASAP.
* I can have it forwarded to my rental home, but I am afraid I will miss critical items in the transition.
* I can forward my mail to a UPS Store and pick it up
* I think my best option is to have it forwarded to my son and have him box up and send me the items I need.

I know I am not the first renter that have this issue. What have others done in this situations?

Have your son FedEx the important papers you are waiting for and hold the rest for you at home. Anything else that might be important he can box and send. Forwarded mail takes longer and sometimes the first day or two can be missed. I know from experience!

Also, I don't think the post office here will let you receive mail unless you are here 3 months or more. Might be wrong, but I think that is the policy.

You can have a forward for 30 days, but you have to remember upon leaving not just to cancel the forward at your hometown PO, but you should put a forward from Lady Lake back home!

definitely have your sons do it...where I work we have a lot of people that go up north for the summer and have their mail forwarded. The last year or so that service has really gone downhill...some items we shipped took a month to get there, some never did..I would not count of forwarding working well
