That becomes problematic when you ride a bike like I do. If I've got two wheels on the rumble strip then it's all on the rumble strip....

Today's Update: Finished getting the cabinets in the craftroom put together and the movers arrived with the contents of the storage unit. Now the house is a mess again. As promised here are the pics of the cabinets plus an additional pic of the accent walls we did in the former dining room that is now a reading nook.

I need a nap.....

Default HotRod's Roof

Well, today I watched the workers put the shingles on Hotrod's house whenever I took a break and sat on the lanai. Coming along quite nicely. They were about half way done when I left around 2:00 so I would be surprised if it's not completely under cover by now. There are also 2x4's in the garage for the interior studs. Really making progress...

Default CalcTeachers Progress

I can't quite figure out what's going on over there. The workers were doing more grading work on the lot today plus more underground plumbing. Probably a good thing I'm not a construction supervisor..... You can't see much in the pic but here it is like I promised!!!

Ummmm...why does it seem like I could build it faster with the help of my 97-year-old grandmother? Seems to me after a couple of days, HotRod had her pool hole dug and some other stuff. Why is MY house so slooooow? Why are they grading again? This is nerve-wracking! Send them evil death stares from the lanai, Rusty!

But thanks for the picture! Maybe I'll be the first Villages house that doesn't close on time...haha. NOT.

Love the shirts WV and A-4!!! Quite a fashion statement! Especially liked the "mirror" image, Rusty you wear them well, I might add! Glad the wait was worth the end result and I know you will wear it proudly! Seems you've been quite busy this week!!

Rusty, the cabinets look awesome as does the accent wall you posted! I might add (please don't tell Janice-it's too creepy) that I have the same color couch and was contemplating an accent color very close to yours. Mirror shirts, mirror houses???? Jeez! Good luck with the rest of your move and perhaps I need to coordinate with you first before I do anything on the inside?

This is what being absent from the forum all day gets you... Just saw the other pics of the houses. Mine actually looks like a house now, and there are windows even! I am amazed at the progress and almost hope they are not moving TOO quickly. On the other hand, I see that there is little progress on yours, CalcT.... Wonder what the deal is? Perhaps a call to your agent or design team person for an explanation? It will take a while to build that castle of yours, and it would be nice to see some walls going up! please keep us posted.....

We like accent wall colors, except what I don't like is getting stuck with the paint brush.

One reason the two houses are going at different rates may be two different builders, if you look at your the set of building plans, 9 pages (I know both of you have a set, right?) in the upper right hand corner is the builders name.

Or call your rep to get a copy and ask for the builders tel#

True. I received my builders name when I signed my paperwork, and luckily my agent knew him. As did her manager. They had many accolades for his work. I DO have building plans!! Calc's could be a time lapse between the graders and builders if they are finishing somewhere else...

I know why they are starting slow on your house. Every worker within 6 counties is over there working on Hot Rods house and there's nobody left to work on yours. I'll bet they catch up.

Don't get all stressed & frustrated Calc! I guarantee you that the house will be finished on time. There are too many disincentives for the builder to miss the date. Ours had a hiccup during construction and the teams worked Saturdays to make sure everything was in order. Now that our move will be complete tomorrow I can spend a little more time observing and looking at the lot after the workers have gone home in the evening. I hate to go over during the day and get in their way. We'll keep you posted!

Hotrod...I picked the color...lol. Must have been a lucky shot on my part! You're right, this is just getting scarier by the moment but I love it! In case you're interested I also do "put together cabinet work" very cheaply!

Hope y'all have a great night!

Just finished our design today(Thursday) and signed the contract for a Gardenia on Mockingbird Lane. Phil Haskins was the designer we worked with and he was great. He was a builder before coming to the Villages 15 years ago so he knows what can and can't be done and not much can't be done. If you have seen anything anyone else has done and like it, it can be yours too. Want more stretch to the lanai than the standard 2 or 4 foot? If your lot can handle it, you can add at least 6 ft as we did. Don't be afraid to ask. Our house has stretch marks all over. So now the waiting for the closing on Dec 21.

Ggalloway6: Where are you building on Mockingbird? Not too many spots left on the GC. And the other side of the road is starting to build equally fast. When we moved in on Mockingbird at the end of June, there were only five houses. It looks like a metropolis now. How nice to get a six foot stretch on the lanaii! As similar as each of the houses are, they are all so totally different after we all put our changes on them. Rusty and Janice added a kickbottom craft room for Janice. It is not only neat but is really pretty with all the windows. Great use of space. We added a small office in hopes of getting small bills The other night I was out around 8:30 p.m. and there were guys on a roof in the pitch black working. Unbelievable. Welcome to Mockingbird.
