For anyone who has played with me, you will know when I say that this game was the worst of anything I've done and that's saying a lot!

Suffice it to say that when I hit the ball or even hit it straight, it normally went into a sand trap. On one hole I even went from sand trap into another sand trap. I told Mike that I've never paid good money to be this miserable.. Oh yea...I think I killed someones lanai on the 18th tee.

More often than not I'd walk off the green with my head down whilest dragging my poor putter behind me.

Lessons....where can I get lessons.....
Thank Goodness for this thread, it brightens every morning, i was laughing so hard when i read it this morning, i had tears running down my face.

On a more serious note, it is good to know that other people have the same sort of games as me! - now i don't feel such a failure.

We understand how HotrodGirl feels about TV, especially Gillyland being home, it really does feel like it to us too.

Can't wait until we are back and not for the warmth of the weather, but the warmth of all you guys and the sense of fun that just permeates the whole of our great neighbourhood and the great characters within it.

The only thing we are worrying about now for the neighbourhood, is whether the latest news about the parties that A4 and The Mayor envisage for the 'Cat House' will spill out across Pinellas and cause traffic problems and congestion.

Hey HotRod, you home yet?????

To answer your question, yes, I am now in the north burbs of Chicago! Got in about 7:30 last night. But am I home??? Hell no! Home is now in Gillyland with y'all! Can't wait to finish up business here in the cold, cold northland and head back down to the warmth of friends in TV! then for sure I will be home again! Miss everyone and look forward to my return ASAP
Glad you are back safely with the 'girls', hope they traveled as well as Millie, she has settled back after her long flight really well.

Know what you mean about Gillyland being 'home', we feel exactly the same way.

Looking forward to seeing you soon, take care

Sounds like we have more construction and new Gillylanders moving in every day. Will have to make the rounds when we come back and meet everyone again.

Have a great week! Betsy and Jim
Hi Both,
It is certainly a fast growing neighbourhood we think there will be a lot of rounds being done in the fall.

We are just getting use to the days of the week again after spending so long with every day being a Saturday!

Looking forward to seeing you guys again soon.

BOGO . . . . . I can't promise you I won't play the Bonifay Destin course again, but I can assure you that it will be a MUCH LATER T-time. I hope that will give you a chance to be in a more appropriate attire for sitting on your Lanai first thing in the morning. As for your Birdcage, sorry about that arrant shot.

P.S. . . . NOBODY wears them fuzzy rabbit slippers any more.

The 3rd tee of destin is behind my place on Amherst! I don't golf--yet--but enjoy watching from the lanai as golfers attack the par 4. It can be comical!

Again, can't express our appreciation enough for your taking these pics for us and for this wonderful "thread" of our new Gilchrist neighbors. We check in every chance we get and love following everyone's adventures until we return to join in. It is amazing how much we identify with what each of you say and how you feel about being away from "home". Sun is out in Pittsburgh and weather warming to 90 by Thursday so hopefully weather will help warm our hearts as we finish our clean out here. We didn't know about TOTV till a few weeks ago - thanks to Rusty (and Sally & Gracie who welcomed us in)! You are all truly awesome!!!!

Awwww. I still think it was a great idea to play a "Big Boy's" course. I had fun. Never could find my errant ball on the first hole, but after that....it was fun.

On the subject of lessons....Check out the Game Enhancement Clinics at Sarasota (driving range across from Colony) Dave has done two of them and I've done one. We have one scheduled for this coming Monday on "Bunkers". That one might be especially helpful for those who find themselves on the "beach" frequently. Seriously, they have one hour classes for $15 each. Anywhere from 3 - 10 people in the class.

Anyone else who wants to take on a Championship course, let us know. We love the ability to play just nine holes for half price, and of course next week it will be $6 to play as many holes as you can get on if you start between 5 and 6 p.m. Call me cheap, but that's a SUPER deal

Thanks for the heads up, Lee. Cool to see it, but hard to believe how much has changed even since the satellite mapped it. There are now about 500 houses across Buena Vista from Evans Prairie. Not to mention all the holes that have been filled in in Gilchrist. I think it must have been taken in early April, judging by the progress (or lack thereof) on our pool at that point.

Wow! This place is amazing

Arrow Sprinklers

Just a quick tutorial on sprinklers.

The way the system was programmed by the builder is very basic this system is capable of a lot.

The Villages Florida

There R 3 different systems within it to set 1 or more zones to totally different schedules.

Say you want the front to get 40 minutes

Set program A (front lawn) to 40 starting at 5 AM

U can set it to any days of the week U wish say Tuesday & Friday, or set it to Interval.

Interval is using any number of days in between the days to water rather than set days of the week.

So an interval of 2 is every two days 3 every third day.

There R also upto 4 start times, here's how that works, you want to water a zone 40 minutes, but U see some water not getting absorbed and starting to pool on the surface.

Simple set that zone to 20 minutes rater than 40 but start it at 5AM as above, then give it 2 hour to soak in and start it again 7:30, now U R still giving it 40 minutes of water but more time to get to the roots.

Program B can run the back lawn or side etc, depends on perhaps sun or U don't want your back yard wet in the morning when you want to relax with your coffee, so set that zone to start at 4AM

Program C can run all your plants on a separate schedule.

By the way most experts agree the watering should be done early in the morning, watering at night may result in fungus in your lawns and leaves it dry all day the blistering heat.

Start about 4-6 AM in this time of the year and about 7-8 in the winter.

One more setting (and don't run the system on bypass really looks silly to see it raining with the sprinklers on) there is a % setting which varies thru the year it is the percent of time the sprinklers actually run if set to 75% for example (the builders setting you think U R watering for 40 minutes? no only 30, in the summer this should be set to 95-100%.

There R Utube video's on these settings to.

I'm sure others can add what I missed here,

PS: most lawn maintenance guys don't know or care to take the time to do this stuff don't depend on them.

Now if U R still confused for a few Corona's I may be able to help!!!!!

My set up

Program A is my palm & plant drip system, these dispense water at 1 gallon an hour to the roots, this is set to interval every 3 days, with 4 start times, 8, 10:30, 1 & 3.

Program B is my turf, Sunday, Tuesday & Thur (then 2 days dry) 12 minutes on sprays and 20 on MP rotators, starting 4:40 and again at 6:45 so twice a day on those 3 days.

Program C is all the plant beds, Monday, Wed & Sat, 5AM & 7AM for 12 min each time.

I intend to leave those settings all summer into fall before cutting back.

Default New to Gilchrist

Hi Neighbors. I moved-in May 13th and have already met some very nice folks! I live at 1633 Norwood with my 99 year-old aunt, Mamie, and my Maltese, Clyde. Looking forward to meeting you all. Can anyone recommend an upholstery place in the area? Thanks, Marilyn Bauer
